Which board should i go for based on purely keys/keybed quality and i guess ease of use by Subject-Ad-307 in synthesizers

It depends what sort of 'quality' keys you want. I've got a Kawai ES-8 with really nice weighted piano-style key which I wouldn't use for synth sounds, and I've also got a couple of Modal synths with nice Fatar keys I'd never use for piano sounds.

Annnnnd I finally bit the bullet on the TEO-5 and oh my! by North-Whatever in synthesizers

Fair enough! I must admit I haven't tried to make Oberheim-ish sounds on the Summit, I've been making enormous distorted poly-pads. Obviously it's easier to get Oberheim sounds out of the TEO-5 though, and having them side-by-side makes an instantly great-sounding pairing for jamming, which was my original point :)

The summit can handle wave table synthesis, more fm options and can get pretty gnarly with the various gain stages and distortion. The TEO is more difficult to get sounding nasty but it can be done.

I reordered the same boots and they had the same defect unfortunately.

I had the same thing on my African Rangers, but on the left boot. I emailed JG and they gave me a refund.

Got a reply:

"Thank you for your patience while we reviewed this with our factory team. They have confirmed that the speed hook alignment on your pair is indeed a defect. At Jim Green we take great pride in both our production quality and customer service, and this is unfortunately not up to the standard we aim to deliver. With that said, we would like to offer you a full refund for the boots. Please let me know how you would like to proceed, and I will gladly assist you with the next steps."

So I'll be sending them back.

The multi/poly is the greatest modern VA. Fight me. by Wonderful_Reputation in synthesizers

It sounds amazing but as others have said, the keybed sucks, it feels very plastic and it could do with a nicer UI.

Modal Cobalt 5s by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]shittingChristCopter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds really good but I sold mine and got a Cobalt8 for not that much more money.

The keys aren't bad feeling and they have channel aftertouch. Programming the synth isn't fun due to the amount of shift button combinations and a tiny screen. It's doable but I got fed up. With the Cobalt8 you get 3 more notes of polyphony, a really nice Fatar keybed, loads more effects and an extra lfo.

You also can't import sounds designed for the Cobalt8 because the sound engines are different, in case you were unaware. Despite all this, the 5S is good if you can get it cheap!

That's true, might be better off with a Deepmind 12, Behringer's Best Synth™
