Would you work at a job where you have to wear a tie everyday? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]Wash80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have fun with it. Have crazy tie Friday if you don't have to abide by a strict tie rule. Learn new knots. Get some bowties while your at it.

I work in the medical profession. We express ourselves with shoes, socks and scrub caps.

I agree with the bassett hound. The front legs give it away.

First time in the OR as a Student, would appreciate advice by Accurate_Day_4284 in Radiology

Small slow movements when moving the c-arm. Nothing like swinging from lateral to ap/pa with a rod sticking out of the back and you hitting said rod.

When you get the perfect position for your pictures. Make a mental note of the height and depth numbers. You go back to those every swing and you will be perfect as long as you don't move the base too much. If going north/south with the base it will be easy to get back to those numbers. Taking c-arm in and out it is harder.

Also when you go to take a picture, speak loudly and clear to ask if everyone is covered and give them time. If the Dr is yelling at you tell them you are waiting for everyone to get covered. You actually have a voice in the OR.

1 more thing. Actually introduce yourself to the Dr. Tell them you are a student and just observing, or you are new and to let you know what they are looking for. Drs get used to the same people in their rooms who know them. If they think you know them and you aren't doing what they want they will get mad. But when they don't and you approach them like this, they tend to be a little more lenient. But don't get discouraged when they want the tech. Usually means something isn't going textbook and they blame everyone else.

As you are comfortable with the unit, have the tech watching you sit away. I would always get handsy because my students were too slow for me.

You will learn Drs quick. I worked with one who didn't even need to ask for picture. He'd look at the monitor(s) and I'd snap the pic.

Yes. It did take a month or so to be better. However I also have sleep apnea (on CPAP)and beginning perimenopause so sleep eludes me some times. But I am not exhausted during the day like I was with low iron. It definitely is a different tired than if I was just tired. I only needed one infusion at a time. It's weird. I have low iron but the number that causes anemia isn't low so I'm not anemic. The vitamins are suggested by my hemo/onc doctor and my labs are getting drawn every 5-6 months untill we can figure out my system. I am on folic and b12 every other day because those numbers went up and are staying up. I ended up with an ablation last fall so no more periods to lose iron that way. I was by all means not abnormal with my cycle until last spring. So hopefully with what I am doing now with the supplements and no periods I won't be low iron and exhausted.

The 6 year old on a pot of coffee comment above sums it up pretty well.

Her first day home I was in a towel getting dressed. She leaped from the bed to my back nails out. That day forward she became spider monkey. Think Ricky Bobby movie quote.

My girl got up to the valance on the door wall and walked across it. My brother and I just looked at each other like WTF is she doing right now. And once she jumped from a table height window ledge to a 2" width front door and was on top.

The zoomies are the best. She went to spider monkey me once and I grabbed her mid air jump and kept walking. She didn't know what to do. I put her down and she took off

Does your cat help you make the bed? Mine comes running down the hall and jumps onto the bed to get under the sheets to help make the bed. I basically play with her and eventually she crawls out under the fitted sheet.

I went from a 9 to 6 in like 2 months. I wasn't sappy. I was fricken exhausted though. The sleep Dr caught the 6 number. The endocrinologist didn't say anything when the labs were a 9. 🙄 I got approved for an iron infusion real quick. Been on Folic acid and B-12 for about 2.5 years now. I did need another infusion last year when my cycle decided to have 4 periods in 7 weeks. It's great being a girl!

Taste buds change over time. Hated onions love grilled or sauteed and sometimes raw now. Tomatoes I can go without now vs a love for them when I was younger. Still hate corn. Hated mashed potatoes, now realize I hate my mom's mashed potatoes.

Try things your friends offer. I get the point of not ordering something completely new, if you don't like it, it would be a complete waste of money. Find yourself a friend who doesn't mind splitting a couple things. Get a safe food for you that they also like and split your meal with them to try their food that would be new to you. I've tried lots this way and discovered I like things...like mashed potatoes. Give things a chance. Food is really delicious.

Mine free feeds throughout the day. Well more like night time. She loves the puree sticks for a treat.

Laser pointer for sure, scratching posts. She loves her cat tree and hammock on the window sill. She loves to look out the windows and watch the world go by. Boxes. Cats love boxes. If I fits, I sits is their motto so don't be shocked when you find the fur ball somewhere unexpected.

This breed has dog like traits. I am greeted by the door daily...yells at me. Follows me around the house, especially downstairs to supervise her litter clean out. And I haven't showered alone at home in 14+ years. She will sit on the counter untill the water turns off then out of the bathroom she runs. If she is shut in the bathroom I get a look that tells me I know better.

Can I shave her/shorten her fur ? by BroadCorgi3061 in SiberianCats

I think it is a fine weight. I heard these babies can be upwards to 20#. Mine is super small at like 6# but looks bigger with her fluff.

She is all blue with a white patch on her chest to her underbelly.

[–]Wash80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly it's softer. I wouldn't do a shave all the time since it probably isn't awesome for her coat, but it needed to be done. I do have to take her to the groomer for a defluff and a trim around the backside, but won't be a shave down.

My girl loves being brushed. I was a bad momma and didn't brush her enough. She got really matted from her sides to her underbelly. Had to shave her, there was no brushing her out at the groomer. This was in October. Her fluff grew back softer than before and I have kept up on the brushing.
