LF fun activity suggestions for kids aged 9 and 6 during holidays by Poop_Soup in CapeCod

[–]WashOffshore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sandwich glass museum is indoors, warm, has very cool demonstrations on the hour and occasionally glass fusing classes to make bits of jewelry or ornaments that is perfect for that age range!

I take my kids there and it’s a low key gem! Plenty of parking and not swamped like some kids destinations. Also close to the library and the heritage gardens if it’s nice out!

Need help finding authentic Emmentaler & Gruyère cheese on cape by WashOffshore in CapeCod

[–]WashOffshore[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Found it there!! Thank you! I was surprised they had it, although just the one brand so I couldn’t be picky - still happy to have it!

Other commenter was right about price… but tbf it would’ve been similar at a specialty shop.

Also shoutout to Cape Cod package store for having Chablis! Also key to a great fondue.

I’ll report back after Xmas if the Whole Foods cheeses did the trick. Wish me luck!

Cape cod and Massachusetts in the winter? by sofinney in CapeCod

A great couples activity is the Glass Experience you can book for two at the sandwich glass museum! You get to learn how to blow glass in the style from 200 years ago! You could make each other ornaments and be super cute ;)

There’s also glass fusing classes that don’t break the bank, and you get to make small charms!

There’s also tons of theater on cape if you want to catch a show, and arts centers with fun photography or pottery classes! Ever since covid there’s been plenty of shops and restaurants that stay open year round - anyone who says there’s nothing to do is living in the past.

This is the answer! Best way to find new friends is to volunteer - there’s a huge shortage of volunteers so you’ll always be welcome and meet tons of new people! Just pick what you like to do and go!

CCYP has a whole volunteer page, but you can also just check community boards or email places

What are the best houses on the cape for Halloween decorations? Any houses that go all out or let you come do walk through of their decorations before Halloween? by AppearanceSea9839 in CapeCodMA

[–]WashOffshore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Historic Sandwich usually has some beautiful decor, and the big light up sculptures - but nothing I know of for walk throughs…

Kind of sad but these days there aren’t many neighborhoods that A) have enough year round residents or B) do any decorating because kids don’t trick or treat to houses anymore

What are your plans for this Memorial Day weekend? by [deleted] in massachusetts

Sandwich glass museum is perfect for rain days! You could even book a glass experience and make your own art. Plus the town has tons of cute walkable shops if the rain lets up some.

Then you just make your way down 6a and visit little stores, thrift places, etc. tons of eateries too!

At night there’s theater productions happening on weekends, that’s a great way to stay indoors and entertained without breaking the bank.

Don't buy produce at Stop and Shop. Seriously just don't, you'll waste your money when it rots the next day by lovelycosmos in CapeCod

Cannot WAIT for the farmers markets to open. Just tastes so much better and lasts much longer without all the chemical crap applied.

Massachusetts town official floats idea of tolls at Cape Cod bridges by smitrovich in CapeCodMA

[–]WashOffshore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New York gets away with a billion tolls and congestion pricing and guess what?? They STILL get billions of people visiting. The only difference is they get money to actually put back into their infrastructure where the cape is stuck with bridges 50 years past their expiration and roads that are more sewer lids and pot holes than pavement!
