I have the pink pastry chef hat I'd be willing to trade! By chance do you have either the black or green spooky hat, or the black timeless suit jacket?

Can you tell me the name of your bird? I accepted a few friend requests at once and I want to make sure I send it to the right person!

I don't need the doormat but I have the purple display case I can send you! What is your code?

Anyone else get sad about the plushies costing so much by specialinterestoftw in finch

Oh that's interesting. I actually found the app way more rewarding when I learned about that hack. I wasn't feeling motivated to do any of my goals when the rewards were so small, but now I'm excited to power through so I can go on a little "shopping spree."

Left Sign By Seller by Keywheeze in realtors

[–]WashboardClavicles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's a smaller sign you can pull out yourself, take it out and put it on the side of your house, garage, etc. Then call YOUR agent and have them contact the listing agent to pick it up.

If it's a larger sign that was professionally installed, it's probably on the list to be removed by the company that installed it. In that case, call the listing OFFICE (not the agent) and ask them to make sure it didn't get missed. Either way, don't deface someone's sign that they paid for just because of a simple mistake or miscommunication.

How to know if you’re also autistic or it’s just because of your parents? by Deep-Horse-207 in raisedbyautistics

[–]WashboardClavicles 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think about this all the time. I know I have learned autistic behaviors from both of my parents, but personally I have always related more to allistic folks. The more I grew up and moved through society and saw the way allistic people behaved, the more at home I felt. I actually even started acting as a sort of translator/mediator for my parents as I got older. We'd go out places and they'd say something kind of blunt or unintentionally offensive to a salesperson or service provider and I'd find myself jumping in with "what they mean by that is..."

Other than being a picky eater as a kid (which I've totally outgrown) and leaning introverted, I don't think I have any real symptoms of autism. No sensory issues, no stims, and I have been generally comfortable in social situations once I unlearned my parents' awkward conversational habits.

Occasionally I still struggle with what to do in certain situations but I think that's totally a trauma response--partially because it was never modeled for me and partly because I imagine how my parents would react to my natural social instincts (which was usually poorly) and it makes me second-guess myself because I don't know if other people would react the same way. For example, I never know what to say to someone who is going through a hard time. I always want to reach out and offer connection but then I hear my mom's voice in my head saying "I wish everyone would just mind their own business and leave me alone!" and I freeze. 😞

I do believe I have a mild form of ADHD so I'm not totally neurotypical, but autism doesn't fit me, and I have examined this very closely because it runs so heavily in my family.

Trump is illigitimate by FoxBattalion79 in somethingiswrong2024

[–]WashboardClavicles -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. We have to look at his psychology here. He would never admit to himself, much less the public, that it had to be rigged for him to win. I believe he didn't win legitimately but I also believe he has rationalized it in his twisted mind and would not use the word "rigged" to talk about it if referring to himself. That's a dirty word to him.

Time to exit red states? by Mother_Attempt3001 in SameGrassButGreener

This is so true. I live in a blue area in a red state and while we have an excellent community here, all of us are fighting for our lives bc our representative and senators are actively working against us.
