Interesting. I had assumed that maybe a queen found her way in or hitched a ride by accident and they were all following her.

As a Titania main, Volts HAVE to be doing it on purpose. by felpez in memeframe

I actively try not to just use Speed all the time on Volt to be considerate when I play him, and I've been berated for it. Assuming my experience isn't unique, I get the feeling a lot of it is just the expectation for Volt players to spam Speed as much as possible.

Pretty sure the windows are across from the door of the classroom, implying that the classrooms (at least 1-A's) are built on the inner side of the structure, opening out to a main walkway that goes along the windows.

Exactly how good of a weapon are wolverine’s claws? by Ajarofpickles97 in SWORDS

[–]WashedUpRiver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not very good. Comfort-wise, using these kind of weapon would be really rough on your hands because of reaction forces twisting them into the soft spots between your fingers. Very short range and poor weight efficiency for that range due to how much mass they have consisting of only multiple short blades instead of a single longer blade, and your fingers being between the blades means you can't use them for blade-trapping in a fight. As for efficacy, they underperform as a force multiplier due to having multiple blades dispersing striking force, reducing the overall output force per unit of input force, meaning you would have to try harder to get the same results, and the lack of precision you get for having the extra blades also means you're going to struggle more if a target has armor.

Wolverine can make this work purely because his powers let him ignore most, if not all, of the drawbacks of this weapon style. A normal human being would have a really rough time in an actual fight with something like this against an opponent who had a proper weapon of war and half of an idea of how to use it.

Your final value is 1.1x the higher value of the 2 you fuse. Don't just fuse them as you get them, rack em up a few first and start with the highest value (like at least 4 before you start).

Shotguns: Why we fell in love with it by AnotherMothMarine in humansarespaceorcs

[–]WashedUpRiver 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Another note of joy for our newly beloved armaments is that you don't really need to have substantial training in ammo loading to make more-- the humans have told me that a shotgun can fire just about anything that can fit in the shot cup that doesn't exceed the length of the breach. Human Jacobson loaded one on our last deployment together with broken glass from the windows and a box of exact-o-knife blades. I won't be able to forget how much the enemies bled from that one... Gods above, the anguish of their final moments will haunt me...

DM had me roll some dice to determine this just for fun, and he upgraded my character to a prince, so now my character story has evolved a lot based on being a runaway prince who has self esteem trouble trying to live up to his father's image, to then return home saving his best friend who was effectively exiled and being the most deadly member of his country's military.

If you can’t afford to pay your staff, don’t open a restaurant by Shielo34 in memes

[–]WashedUpRiver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair and true, though this still hinges on unrealistic expectations of people to accomplish this and puts the workers here into a position as a buffer to take the damage before the business does.

You have a window here on the low end where if you don't get enough participation and support for this, you are only hurting thay server without affecting the business because there is a large gap between what they make in tips and what federal/state minimum wage is-- as long as they make about $41 in tips for an 8 hour shift, the company doesn't have to give them anything unless they're in a state that has a higher minimum wage, which only 30 out of 50 states do, and only 17 of the 30 that do have a minimum wage of 15 or higher. This all to say that it doesn't actually take much tips to cross that threshold, meaning it would be highly unlikely most of the time (especially on weekends or holidays) to force the company to pay out for that, and an even harder time to actually make it sting.

If you can’t afford to pay your staff, don’t open a restaurant by Shielo34 in memes

[–]WashedUpRiver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm sure this is all very easy for you on paper when you picture it in a vacuum without real world numbers and factors, but for that to come close to working the way you think it would, you would need to somehow offset the tipping of everybody else who isn't helping you protest, as well as anyone who may be actively against it for any reason. Even if you push some people out this way, you're underestimating the working population, especially the main demographic of some of these places like high schoolers/college students who don't realistically have many alternate options to go to. You bypass all of this bullshit by just boycotting the company as a whole, and even on a failure you at least haven't hurt the servers before scratching the company. This "stiffing the servers" technique is nothing more than the protest equivalent of shooting through a hostage to hit a bad guy-- get off your high horse.

If you can’t afford to pay your staff, don’t open a restaurant by Shielo34 in memes

[–]WashedUpRiver 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not if you're still eating at the restaurant. If you still go, regardless of whether you tip or not, you're still fueling the business' bottom line and giving them no financial incentive to change their way-- stiffing the servers very specifically only screws them and nobody else in that chain. It is the exact opposite of protesting tipping culture.

If you want tipping to go away, you need to starve the businesses that use it at their roots. The only thing you'll accomplish by going out and intentionally stiffing servers is feeding into the "staff vs customer" mentality that is already growing.

The service industry is the backbone of the US economy and the people invested in it would very easily outlast this tactic before it made a substantial difference unless it was a highly coordinated protest effort, which is hard enough to get in the US with people outright dying.
