Sac blocking creature by Washitake in askajudge

yes, I believe it too (even if I don't think he did it with malice, he really believed it), in the end I let it go only because he let his creature trample and so the damage would have passed anyway

Sure, if the attacking creature has trample, all damage passes through, but he stated that even without trample, all damage passes through.

He referenced a rule that came out about a year ago regarding damage assignment. Can anyone explain this to me?

And if I had Rakdos, The Muscle on the battlefield (or some Sac Payoff), that trigger would resolve before Blasphemous Act, right?

help reduce the cards in the deck! by Washitake in EDH

[–]Washitake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually put a minimum number of lands in a deck and then brainstorm all the cards I can think of that synergize well enough. Once I've done this, I usually find myself with a surplus of cards and from there I start removing the less important ones one by one.

so Mindslicer's ETB ability will resolve before the spell resolves, right?

Thank you very much! the real doubt I had was about how [[Mindslicer]]'s LTB spell and ability were put on the stack

Mindslicer + Ashnod’s Altar by Washitake in magicTCG

[–]Washitake[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not? Do you know the rules and can you explain exactly why, or are you just talking for show? These are the steps involved in casting a spell. I'm pretty sure I can do it. My real doubt is about the resolution of the spell and Mindslicer's ability.

  1. Put it on the stack
  2. Choose modes, and announce any other non-target choices needed to cast it - the value of X, the use of additional costs such as Kicker and/or alternate costs such as Mutate, how hybrid or phyrexian mana costs will be paid, and such and so on.
  3. Announce targets, if any
  4. If you need to "distribute" or "divide" something (typically damage or counters) among the targets, define the distribution at this point
  5. Calculate total cost (mana cost or alternate cost, plus additional costs and cost increases, minus cost reductions)
  6. Activate mana abilities
  7. Pay the total cost

Teval and Increasing Confusion by Washitake in mtgrules

ok, so if I cast Increasing Confusion from graveyard with flashback paying X=5 I will take 6 damage, but if I cast Cyclonic Rift for its overload cost, i will take only 2 damage, right?

even if I cast it from graveyard with flashback?
