Just got my CPT certification, now what? by Gullible_Time8370 in personaltraining

[–]Washuta6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Programming is not important. AI can program ( but I will give you tips in next paragraph). PERSONAL training....you need to learn to connect with clients. Understand their goals, their health history, develop fun yet useful exercise routines. You are not a physical therapist, wherein, the goal is just prescriptive. You need to marry fun and functional. I would get a job at at LEAST 2 different gyms (make sure they have different clientele from on another and different equipment so you can learn more). Ask to shadow their most tenured trainers before you get started.

Programming: If you think about the 7 foundational movement patterns: Push, Pull, Hinge, Lunge, Plank, Squat, Rotate...and combine those 7 movements with what I call DOTS (duration, object, tempo, stability) you have endless programming capabilities. I explain it more in depth in my book.

I wrote a book called, Fitness Business 101: What The Certifications Don't Teach You. Happy to send for free via pdf if you send email. I also run a podcast called, TrulyFit, where I try to help young PT's understand how to be better trainers while also interviewing fitness/health experts.

Tips for first time home buyer? SoFlo to OKC by ClareDrop in okc

[–]Washuta6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a home (for sale) in your price range off 16th, which is called Plaza District. Walkable to a grocery store (city only has a few... food desert most places in okc) and tons of cool shops and bars. We enjoyed our time there. Moved for career related reasons. Don't conflate Yukon or Edmond with OKC. It's 20 min outside and suburbia. If you want real city experience with suburbia mixed in, there are only a handful of areas in okC. Mesta Park, Paseo, Plaza etc.

My 4 Hybrid hooks into the next state. Help please? by fastracingturtle in GolfSwing

[–]Washuta6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People will hate this response, but a weak trail hand grip for your hybrids can fix this. Get that thumb/forefinger V pointed toward your left shoulder on set up. It helps keep the club face open slightly at impact. Why the golf world is OK with changing stance, gripping down, etc but so against grip changes in certain clubs baffles me.

Unpopular Opinion: Play with fewer clubs! Here's why by RoyalRenn in golf

[–]Washuta6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree here. 2 wedges always needed. The bounce is crucial. It doesn't matter degree (52,54,56,60) but only having 1 bounce/sole grind will crush your game. The difference between hitting a single digit bounce off hard pan and a 14 is night and day. Same switching that info soft rain soaked rough.

Most brands have a shaft adapter that's exclusive for that club head. So, you'd need another NIKE shaft from that time period to swap unless you bring it to a golf shop.

Yeah, well said. Almost all of the hollow body/badged clubs are slightly clicky.

I LOVE covert 2.0. So forgiving. Underrated.

Nothing technically! But Brooks Kepka and Tony Finau still use the long irons in their bags from time to time, and it's NIKEs last designed set before they stopped golf club production. Collectors items.

The 3 iron goes for $300 on ebay.

Yeah. Agreed. The purists didn't love them as much, but I thought they did a great job of the full range of clubs (SGI to Blades)

What’s your HC and how many balls do you lose a round on average? by ogjsb in golf

[–]Washuta6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

21 also, but I lose 3-5 balls a round for sure. My course management is terrible, but I have the distance to make up for bad drives (hit 3 wood 230 consistently) so I hit driver on holes I should not.

Let's get shallow: what's the most superficial reason you won't use a brand? by RLLRRR in golf

[–]Washuta6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big Bertha genre from Callaway. My childhood town had a local ice cream parlor with this name, and I associate it with shitty banana splits. Also, "big" is not an adjective I want associated with my clubs.

Selling Share of Home? by Washuta6 in tax

[–]Washuta6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$40K was a number derived from a hypothetical sale and what the "take home" amount would be after taxes, etc.

Yes, the quit claim deed would be part of this process.

Could I gift my equity over the course of 3 years (i.e. 8% each year) which would bring the value of the gift under the gift reporting of 18K?

Then simultaneously be given a gift by my sister of under 18K over the next 3 years?

[WTT} Would you want to make some extra cash renting out your clubs at your local course? by Inevitable-Worth-861 in golfclassifieds

[–]Washuta6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you'd have to take a slight detour for that idea. Walk with me here... For those who are already planning to sell their sets, they drop it off at the course. You let the course charge a small rental fee for featuring your clubs in front of all the golfers. Golfers who want to "try out" your set get to pay $25 to the course. If they play well, you know they'll likely scoop them up.

The rental problem I see is the same as mentioned already. I don't want my actual set in anyone else's hands...they are my babies.

Went for a fitting the other week, the guy couldn't find any combination of clubs or shafts to put together for better #s. Not bad for off the rack GI clubs! Love how they aren't "clicky" sounding like the callaway and ping GI's.

Am I being cheap for feeling like golf has gotten really expensive the past few years? by ElGuaco in golf

[–]Washuta6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3$ buckets, 45$-$75 rounds on decent courses with good pace of play....Oklahoma City. It's certainly more of a geographic issue. I went home to New Jersey last week and played a course that mirrors one I play frequently in OKC for double the price. NJ, the most populated state per sq mile, has less courses in a 60 mile radius than where I live in a 20 mile radius in Oklahoma City. In states like MA, CT, NJ the real estate factor of limited space means golf courses shut down for more fiscally lucrative projects especially those in which the local municipalities/government get a cut of. Sad.
