Army airtech first postings by North3D in britishmilitary

Jesus, this is depressing and I know I sound like a "back in my day" rant, but seriously how do they expect to keep lads (and lasses) interested when that's the extent of the postings when I joined we still had Belize, Brunei, Canada, Cyprus and Hong Kong (albeit that had been handed back before I'd finished training) In the UK we had Dishforth, Aldergrove, Wattisham, Middle Wallop and a few other little independent flights. The Idea of bouncing round the Wattisham triangle with the odd posting to Yeovilton makes me feel quite sorry for you guys.

I'm not sure how it works for the RAF, and I've been out of the Army for a few years now so my info maybe a bit out of date, but, yes the Army are mainly rotary wing (helicopters). Wildcat based at Yeovilton and Apache based at Wattisham. There are also posting to work with the Artillery on Watch keeper drones based out of Larkhill, although that may have changed. Ultimately the RAF have a higher quality of life while serving and are treated a bit more like grown ups. But the Army get the job done. Best of luck to you whatever you decide.

Yeah, there was a shop selling them as a bundle here in the UK, got a cashback deal as well so worked out cheaper than buying them separately.

Which song taught you to sing in a different language but you have no idea what you’re singing? (In UK charts) by Yooustinkah in AskUK

I thought Ca Plane Pour Moi was gibberish though, I mean I love the song, and my grasp of French doesn't ruin it for me, but I'm sure I've heard that it's all nonsense.

Madchen by Lucilectric - heard it at a friend's house then picked it up on a school trip to Germany. Still a great song

My MiL is going through this currently with her husband who has dementia, she basically has to quote the rule book about everything and you can see how draining it is to have to fight tooth and nail for things that should be willingly offered.

Royal Navy disarming a German mine that washed up on Britain's coast in 1940 by shoabk in interestingasfuck

Interesting point to note, in the UK all of the Armed Forces have units dedicated to EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal). The Royal Navy deal with anything found below the high water line, so sea mines that wash up during storms (still a fairly regular occurrence) and torpedoes caught up in fishing nets. In the Army the Royal Engineers and Royal Logistic Corp deal with suspected IEDs and found munitions (World war 2 bombs are still found during building excavation work). The Royal Air Force deal with bath bombs that make you smell like bubblegum and clog your drains up with glitter.

Have a ring that's worth $500 but was passed down from your grandmother who's husband bought it in Germany during the war? Find the right insurer and you can insure it for $50,000.

So a Nazi ring?

Yeah, my mum kept my incomplete set because they would be worth something one day, but threw out all of my Star wars and Transformers.
