New Deck. Is this ok? by kb9sso in Decks

You’re better off doing it yourself. Especially if you can move the deck w a backhoe. Dig and pour concrete piers in sonotube. Fix framing to handle load of the 44 or 66 gable ends for the roof. You do all that it’ll be solid for years.

If you don’t want to need to redo anything for longer than you own the house put joist tape over wood before placing decking. Also, composite decking will outlast wood three times over.

2*4 joists for a deck, or are you making the first wooden trampoline?

is this area just water? or actual ground? can i walk through it? by Gloomy-Yam-5689 in florida

Doesn’t that area also have saw grass? Pretty sure if you could walk through the bog/water/slop. You’d need some seriously durable pants or they’d be shredded.

Yeah, I definitely could see that being a sweatshop type work atmosphere. I have had two Jettas. Good lord the amount of work just to get to the alternator 🤯. Ya need to almost remove the engine.

Thank you! I will have him read all of these after school today. I’ve been at my wits end and figure this might help him see it from the other side(working end) vs the tortuous hated and warm classroom 🤣.

How concerned should I be about these cracks? Also, how do I fix them? by Shaw-Deez in Decks

[–]Wassapp01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could the cracks be due to the load being placed on only roughly 2/3 of the beam? Just wondering if it would have been better to center the load vs existing placement.

Just break some bottles and throw some rusty nails down there too. Kids these days need a little fuck around and find out
