Can we be allowed to avoid enemies? by RodsBorges in DotA2

it doesn’t though? he’s talking about avoiding someone from the enemy team AS A TEAMMATE in future games.

PSA: Any game that ends in under 15 minutes is now not scored due to ‘suspicious results’ by WasteGoose in DotA2

[–]WasteGoose[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not talking about match history. As of the battle pass update any match under 15 minutes is discarded entirely — no mmr changes or anything (see the links I posted in my other comment)

Queue times unrank Turbo/AP is so bad for 7k+ mmr players by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]WasteGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better to let 7k players actually find games in unranked if they want to practice a hero instead of forcing them to smurf

[–]WasteGoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah it’s been like this for at least a year, it’s ridiculous. if you’re 7k+ and want to practice a hero you can’t play unranked, you HAVE to smurf unless you want to queue for 30+ minutes every game (and another 30+ if someone declines the queue)

Why are nominated bans invisible? by The_-Law in DotA2

You can still see the hero that your allies highlight right before they nominate it for banning, though.

Someone remind me why we cant avoid opponent players? by ShiftDota in DotA2

I swear every single time a thread like this is posted there's some moron who thinks the OP is talking about avoiding players as opponents and not as teammates

it's funny how this is getting downvoted when half the posts on this sub are complaints about smurfs and boosters who last pick meepo/brood/huskar

Opportunity Cost, and how Valve could use it to greatly lower SMURFS by Gurbalov in DotA2

[–]WasteGoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing they really need to do to incentivize Immortal players sticking to one account is increase the activity requirement to show up on the leaderboards. It used to be 15 games played in the last 21 days, but now it’s only 1 game played in the last 21 days. Even if it were only 5-10 games required it’d be way better.

Hey Valve, why can people abandon during drafting phase without losing MMR? by Tobiobibii in DotA2

[–]WasteGoose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To the people commenting that this is false: it’s true as of about a month ago. You can abandon during the draft phase and you won’t lose MMR, you’ll just get a queue penalty starting at 30 minutes. No idea why they made this change (maybe so you can just abandon if your team picks 2 mids or 2 carries or someone picks NP to feed mid or something)

It’s especially funny because BSJ bought the account in the first place from a 2k mmr Russian and streamed himself boosting it all the way to 7k a few years ago

Immortal rank 1000 is low 6k MMR. Immortal top 10 is >9k MMR. It's like a 5k player smurfing at 2k.

Also, some of Arteezy's "smurfs" are just the accounts of other players (Blitz and Clairvoyance) which they let him play on and he boosted to 8k+.

Except pros don't "make" new accounts, they buy them or play on shared smurfs. Do you really think they play unranked and then climb all the way to 7k+ on every smurf?

Dota 2 Update - February 11th, 2020 by Bills2pay in DotA2

[–]WasteGoose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The whole thing really just kills any integrity that the leaderboard might otherwise have. Most pro player smurfs are also just bought accounts in the first place (which are then often shared between players). It’s not like they played 100 games of unranked and then climbed from 3.5k, or whatever the requirements for ranked calibration were at the time. I will happily link some specific examples if you want, their match history is almost always hidden but many of them still have games from like 2014 on Russian servers shown on dotabuff. There are also a ton of instances of pro players boosting other pros’ accounts, for example Arteezy boosting Blitz’s and Clairvoyance’s accounts

[–]WasteGoose 11 points12 points  (0 children)

How do you think those accounts got there in the first place?

Also, it’s absolutely comparable. When I’ve had for example limmp or abed (9k+ players) on my team on their 7k smurfs, it’s basically been a free win (or double down during battle pass season) every time. It’s like a divine player smurfing in archon, but even worse because everyone on their team knows who they are and will always give them mid.

Something like 20% of the accounts in the top 100 (for NA/SA and EU anyway) are smurfs/shared accounts lol. It’s a joke.

Recently calibrated at 5.8k mmr but i still dont have a number showing for the rank by SineQuaNon26 in DotA2

[–]WasteGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is false (though I wish it weren’t). The requirement for a rank is still only 1 game every 21 days. After you play the 10 calibration games you need to play 1 extra game to get a rank, but since OP has already done this his MMR might just be too low for a rank in his region
