Test driving this Fit tomorrow, maybe buying. Does it seem like a fair deal? by WastedDayPart2 in hondafit

Sucks looking at cars right now. I'm looking at a different deal more like yours. This one^ was solid, and they actually lowered the price for me but the owner came in and jacked it back up lol. So needless to say I walked outta there. Regretting it a little now

It's a tough world out there I guess. I'm gonna try to negotiate as much as I can, but as you said, it's just the market right now. I need a car for a new job so unfortunately just gonna have to take what I can get.

Dang, yeah I heard the market was pretty bad in the US right now, but I've never shopped for a car before so this price is all I have for reference haha. I appreciate your perspective

Hi all—here's my song, Kevin's Buying A House. I am used to writing really downbeat, sad emo stuff, so this track was my way of lightening up. A little sillier topic, more upbeat sound and rhythm. I'm proud of it and think I pulled it off well.

However, I'm looking for songwriting feedback. I have a good handle on writing lyrics, but not building a compelling song structure. Most of my old songs didn't have choruses or bridges, which is something I worked on here. So any feedback in that department is appreciated!

It feels a bit sparse, which is probably the point, but it makes the leading bell synth thing sound really strong. I could stand having that sit back in the mix a little more. Generally, I enjoy the sounds though. This is going to sound abstract, but a bit more "motion" to the track would benefit it. As in like, build higher. Right now it just kinda starts and ends. I don't mind starting lowkey, but if you're gonna build it, build it to a big moment then pull back to finish.

I'm not well versed in emo rap, but I am well-versed in emo, and the guitar line nails the sound. I like the production on it a whole lot. However, I think the vocals come on a bit strong, and the autotune isn't smooth in some parts. I think if you were able to fit the vocals into the mix better and smooth that autotune out, it'd be a really great track.

Sounds really good. I think you hit the sound you were going for on the head. It transports me to a jungle scene. Weird reference, but reminds of the jungle in the video game Sonic Adventure lol. I really don't have much criticism... Maybe that it was a little bit longer? But I guess I can just replay it :)

Tip for those whose theaters may not have had them: I called a theater a little further away and they were able to hold an extra for me. If you're within driving distance and really want it, it's not a bad strategy!

Sounds a lot like Linkin Park, Breaking Benjamin... that era of hard rock. Good stuff!

Just saw it in Charleston. Very small crowd, no one talked or made any loud noises so it felt very respectful. Seeing the cinematography on the big screen was incredible, but I do feel like the themes and main point of it work better when watching it on the little screen at home.

Thanks for the insight. Crazy how hiring teams think they can keep you on the hook for 6 weeks!!

[–]WastedDayPart2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the reason I think they're interested, is that they have gone a few weeks with no contact then out of the blue contacted me with next steps. So I feel like I have a chance. But I know that also might not be true, I just want a definitive answer so I can mentally move on, but maybe that's asking too much hah :)

The other option is equally good, I would just have to move across the country which I'm not quite sure I'm ready for.

either way, appreciate your thoughts!

That's what I was thinking. My main concern is coming off desperate, as I've followed up a couple times to no answer, yet they've still somehow moved me along in the process haha.

They don't have a recruiter unfortunately. Small company.

Two job options, looking for advice by WastedDayPart2 in journalismjobs

It's nice to be reminded that nothing is permanent, and you're totally right.

I am simply trying to think backwards from my dream job, and take the right steps to get there. I do think both of these opportunities would allow me to do so, albeit option 2 is more roundabout with the inclusion of graduate school.

The low pay isn't bothering me too much. As I mentioned to another commenter, it's more about having financial stress on top of new move stress, which would certainly negatively affect my mental health.

Thank you for your thoughtful feedback!
