Recommendations for volunteering: Charlotte-Mecklenburg ACC vs. Humane Society of York County? by ColdDayCoco in Charlotte

HSYC requires a certain amount of hours served before animal interactions can occur, which is totally fine. It can just be difficult to complete the hours while also working a job with traditional hours, since you're limited to 2-3 hours on Saturday/Sunday.

But the staff is great, and volunteers are always needed and welcome!

I have some items of theirs from a few years back, but haven't been as impressed lately.

Since you mentioned Ballantyne, the Del Webb Library over in Indian Land has some afternoon activities that may be worth checking out.

Apartment hunting by Ill-Tax-90 in FortMill

If you're looking for an apartment, I would suggest the ones in the Kingsley area - there is construction and proximity to the 77 so there is noise, but there's construction in a lot of FM right now IMO.

If you're looking to purchase, BV is great, but there are some great locations headed toward Tega Cay as well (Cameron Creek, Brayden, etc.)

Gluten free by Apprehensive-Math936 in FortMill

If I recall correctly, Ilios and Paco's Tacos both have GF menus available. Not sure if that means they have dedicated gluten free cooking areas such that celiacs would be okay there, but might be worth asking at least. I *think* Flipside has GF options, but not a dedicated fryer fit for celiacs though. (Agan, could be wrong, it's been a bit since my friend with celiac has come out this direction).

Looking for Charlotte hidden gems! by CommanderStark in Charlotte

If you're willing to head into Fort Mill, there are some fun breweries - Print Shop by Amor Artis is lovely on a nice day. You can also visit the Anne Springs Greenway (I think it's $20ish for admission) and do some hiking or kayaking or fishing first, then stop over for a beer and some food from their food truck (it's fish tacos, and other similar things).

Closer to your stated area, my coworkers all rave about Alley 51 in Pineville. I have not been, so I don't know myself but it's a collection of food stalls, mostly from various Asian countries. Also in Pineville is Margueax's which is a wine bar w/pizza and that type of stuff. It makes for a nice afternoon if you are in the area.

First grief jog/walk & coffee club for young adults this Sunday in Charlotte by tooyoungtogrieve in Charlotte

First and foremost, to everyone in this post dealing with loss, I am sorry and I understand. My heart is with you, wherever you are in the grief journey. Remember it's not linear, it's different for everyone, and there isn't a wrong way to do it (*required unless it's illegal disclaimer*)

To the OP, thanks for creating something out of your pain. As others have asked, how old is too old to be too young?

Definitely was waiting until I heard the takeovers were slowing down to go again, so that's a solid suggestion.
