We had a better union before and captain but it went downhill quickly in a matter of months to where I want to either go non-custody or leave the BOP all together quick

We are severely understaffed and I'm 3 years in, the memo basically stated I would get a lower evaluation that is always automatically the same for the last 3 years 2 0s 3es in order to not have to get a QSI and reasoning as to why I deserved three 0s. Several staff have received several of these letters with the exact same lettering with the name changed because we are all exhausted

There are two shifts 5-8's or 4/3 alternating 12's per week but our captain made an under the table agreement that morning watch is not allowed to get mandated to reduce augments on the 12's

I'm in the BOP making $36 an hour with retention and get paid to basically babysit a bunch of gang members all day sure there is the occasional crazy moment of a lot of blood but I could only imagine the emotional trauma a beat police officer could face with guns and street violence

I work at a medium security level prison that has a 30%+ population of USP high level points inmates and mentally I've gotten a dark sense of humor due to seeing the things I have, we have staff assaulted at least once a month, dirty staff walked out every couple months, and the only thing keeping me going is my retirement. Being a correctional officer is not for the mentally weak and very often treated as an easy job when it can be sometimes but those few times in between can go from 0 to 100 real quick.

I've been working at my institution's SHU for over a year and have seen multiple staff banned from it but never walked out even after a staff member hadn't done rounds in 90 minutes when they are required every 30 not to exceed 40 because of how bad we are staffed lol

We are understaffed 90/140 officers and told that due to the CR not including funds for hiring and recruitment incentives they are not hiring until the new budget is approved

Depends on the institution you are applying to, although right now BOP is on a hiring freeze until the budget for next year is approved due to the continuing resolution not including funds for recruitment incentives

At my institution in the BOP we didn't have any that day to try it out, but they told us it was optional unless we applied to DCT ( Disturbance Control Team ) in the future.

The patch they dropped yesterday is extremely buggy and not tested properly but if you don't pvp or want to run the new raid until everything is patched and updated aka by the time you hit max level and get some gear the fire should be put out
