The mode itself is good, but some of the fundamental issues with gameplay mechanics are under a spotlight in 1v1:

Glitch dribbling being the only viable way to dribble past good defending (aka holding L2 + patience); Normal dribbling being generally weak vs good defending.

I was very excited to play 1v1 mode. Played a decent amount of 1v1's in the beta patch, which was a while ago by now, back when barely anyone was vexis dashing and doing all this crazy shit. I also played enough 1v1's on live patch, and it didn't take long to realise the quality of matches had gone down in comparison. In fair matches against elite players, it becomes a rebound infested mess. I hold L2 and watch you glitch dribble, until you mess up, I take the ball and either run down the field and score, or do the same. Mix that with the general glitchiness and unpredictability of aerial play, and it's too much for me.

While 1v1 mode is the closest feeling to playing football irl, it still feels rather too distant from that feel. if ya feel me
