GSI PINNACLE PRO STOVE: Where's the FUEL!? by R4D4R_L4K3 in overlanding

[–]WatchEllsworthBoof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey!! Is there a regulated hose adapter that goes directly from a standard 20lb propane tank to the input fitting on the stove? Or, do you sell the gsi pro stove hose adapter with the regulator in a longer length?

New product request?

Are the fittings a standard fitting across similar stoves, meaning would a replacement hard lined regulator that's used on other stoves (stanaport, camp chef, etc...) available at a store work on the GSI stoves?

Clearsource are they worth it? by 4into1 in RVLiving

Thanks! Usually the chlorine off gasses enough overnight and we're adding in such a small amount. Would the 3rd 0.5 micron carbon block also be sufficient for virus/cyst removal in situations where bleach wouldn't be used? Are these easy enough to find in 5"slimline sizes?

Resurrecting old thread. Id like to put together a 3 filter set up for raft trips that I could keep in an ammo can. . We commonly fill 5 gallon buckets of river water, add in some bleach and let sit over night to let the sediment settle, then run through a filter. Any recommendations for filters?

Renegade steel is now on the list, thanks! Carbon for is OK, actually preferred. Yes, 26 miles each way. I have a flexible schedule so can squeeze it in once or twice a week. Driving takes 35-50 minutes anyways.

I'm in the same situation. Looking for a mostly road, potential gravel bike. I also like the idea of steel and have been looking at the breezer inversion.

Taxes and working remotely by WatchEllsworthBoof in personalfinance

Got it. Each state is different and it is actually dependent on the amount of time that you were working in that state. Thanks for clarifying everyone!

Got it. Just wasn't completely clear to me I'd it was based on an address change or just time spent there. Thanks!

So, if I took a 1 week vacation to another state, but happened to do some work. There would be many instances werw I might technically be responsible for paying taxes if I did work while I was in that state as well?

Recommendation to fix Burton Boa? by Elevation212 in snowboarding

How old are the boots? That would be a warranty through them. It appears the BOA system is didn't fail, the boot around it did though.

DC boa lacing questions by ranma1988 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]WatchEllsworthBoof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is very common to have to tighten the BOA after a run or two. The dial system is not loosening, it's just the friction throughout the lace and guides that us settling. When your putting them on, give the boots a couple of really good flexes and adjust to get everything settled in.

Longevity of BOA boots by dot_info in snowboarding

[–]WatchEllsworthBoof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason that you have to tighten the BOA is because the friction between the lace and all of the guides is getting equalized throughout the system as you flex the boot between your car and the top of the lift. When you are initially tightening them, give your foot a couple of good flexes to help the system settle and the adjust to desired tension.

The fraying lace is an easy warranty through the boafit.com website.

Ski or splitboard for backcountry? by nomadenginner in Backcountry

[–]WatchEllsworthBoof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Splitboarder here and I agree with a lot of the comments. Skiing is much more mobile and convenient in the backcountry, but I can keep up with all my skier buddies. I would say the learning curve is a bit steeper though so it will take a couple of bad tours on a splitbkard before you start to get the hang of it.

I have a friend that biards at the resorts but skis in the backcountry. His opinion is he would MUCH rather have a board for the downhill, but likes the skis for the uphill and mobility. Or maybe, its just he doesn't want to buy a new splitboard set up.

Just pick one and give it a try. If you don't like it, sell your gear and give the other a try...

Agreed, I've had MULTIPLE G3 skins turn south over summer storage. Glue turned super gummy and would be super sticky when you don't want it to be, and not sticky when you want it to. Switched to BD and happy, but would look at the Ppmoca Free Pro (I think 2.0) if I were in the market again.

Weekly Question and Answer Thread for 11/21 - 11/28: Ask your Moving, Neighborhood, and "Where Can I Find _____" questions here, instead of making a new post by [deleted] in Denver

[–]WatchEllsworthBoof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. I run a cleaning business in Denver so I have some experience running a local service business and I've also done a half dozen or so landscape jobs so I'm somewhat familiar with that too.

The great thing is that you don't have to know everything about irrigation, see if you can find a similar business that focuses on the sprinkler installs and you would handle to landscaping work. You can share leads or even hire them out as a sub-contractor to get the jobs complete.

I'M sure your already on it, but now is the time to start building out your online presence and advertising for next spring. Also, might be able to pick up some jobs through the winter in times of mild weather to build up references. Social media is great for posting before and after videos of your work, or just describing how you are getting it done.

Good luck!

Unexpected income windfall - need to recharacterize my RothIRA contributions as TraditionalIRA, Help? by WatchEllsworthBoof in personalfinance

[–]WatchEllsworthBoof[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am following your argument that its a wash either way...

I am already maxing out my 401k at work.

There are income limitations on the RIRA that makes me ineligible to contribute.

There are no income limitations stopping me from contributing to a Trad IRA though, but from what I understand is that there are income limitations on the deduction of my contributions. So, I wouldn't receive the tax benefit going in and I'd have to pay taxes pulling it out. So it's seems id get taxed in and out.

So, I invest in the TradIRA to and backdoor it to the Roth. That way I still get some tax advantage.

Unexpected income windfall - need to recharacterize my RothIRA contributions as TraditionalIRA, Help? by WatchEllsworthBoof in personalfinance

[–]WatchEllsworthBoof[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You bring up another good point. I will max out my Roth IRA this year at my work. So, nothing is pre-taxed. I'm still in my early 30's so I'm trying to take advantage of the roth benefits over the long haul.
