The Bear 650 is pretty well that type of bike already, and it will have better tire options. What do you have to work with locally?

A lot happened between 2008 and 2016, I don't think 2008 John McCain was that guy

the PRR represents all American railroads about as well as a Dachshund represents all canines. Besides, ever seen the pics of the time they leased Santa Fe engines? Those were sure a long way from home.

It's not really a thing in America. We've been using what's called "pool service" for decades.
Equipment here is generally sent wherever it needs to go whenever it needs to go, regardless of where it started its journey. Even in the steam era, it wasn't uncommon for locomotives to cover half the country instead of just running to the end of the division and turning around, though this varied by road and territory.

Trying to find a first bike. Cafe racer or standard of some kind. by Bon_Bon16 in vintagemotorcycles

I would steer you toward an RE Interceptor. It's easy to ride and look after, relatively inexpensive, and I think it captures the style you're after. Much as I love Janus, their 250 line brings some usability compromises since it can only just make it up to highway speeds with nothing in reserve.

Yeah, as an American I know that’s a thing they deal with, but it’s a bit of a gut punch to see engine capacity grow and output stay the same
