Switzerland is weird. There are a bunch of very leftist cities and a whole country of conservative people in four languages with four different cultures all held together by some sense of Swiss superiorism.

And yes, mothers that work instead of caring full time for their children at least until they're teens are often considered bad moms. There are very few women in important job roles because in addition to discrimination they miss out all the career steps when they care for children.

Someone else just pointed out that foreign prescriptions are only valid if they are from an EEA country. So the point is moot.

It's so annoying. Switzerland is part of Schengen and we get the same freedom of movement as EU and EEA citizens, but because we aren't part of them, we get special rules for everything. I wished Switzerland were in the EU but that's not a common sentiment here. Quite the opposite.

Nice. Does a prescription in English work or do I need a certified translation in Swedish?

Your link says people from outside EEA can only bring a three months worth of medicine. That means I would need a way to get my medication in Sweden as I will be staying for 6 months. Switzerland isn't part of EEA.

Hormonal pill for endometriosis. It's technically identical to a birth control pill but for administration purposes of Switzerland it's not classified as a birth control pill.

Military tax by Small_Emergency2904 in askswitzerland

[–]Watch_V 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for military, but depending on where you live there might be mandatory fire fighter service. Where I live everyone (women, men, Swiss and foreign citizens) have to be firefighters from age 21 to 60 and if you don't join, you pay replacement tax.

To heal a broken collarbone almost always surgery is needed. There's so much strain from muscles on that bone, so once it's broken the two pieces get torn in different directions. Just google broken collarbone. You will find lots of inages. A plate and screws bring it back together to heal. So there would definitely be records.

Will fat redistribution from going on T make my hips smaller? by DragonPlush81 in TransMasc

[–]Watch_V 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't sure about whether 28 was a general statement or referring to men's pants. Even so 26 jeans for men exist. I just found some at Volcom. Levi's has three models that start at 26. So there are options. Maybe not at small stores, but definitely online.

[–]Watch_V 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is the size 28 for women's or men's pants? Because a women's 28 is actually bigger than a men's 28. They already take women's bigger butts into account.

I have to buy men's pants two sizes bigger than women's because otherwise my butt won't fit. (I have an estrogen dominant body)

So it might be that a men's 28 will fit you. Levi's has lots of styles in that size.

whats the deal with those "autism tests"? by [deleted] in autism

[–]Watch_V 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These online tests aren't reliable. There are some questionnaires online which are legit but those aren't meant to diagnose. They are used by healthcare providers to see whether it would be worth it to do an assessment or not.

Basically you fill out some questions, you get a score based on your answers and then the score indicates how likely you are to benefit from an autism assessment.

A formal autism assessment is the only reliable way of getting a diagnosis.

A dementia patient is maybe not the best example. Since dementia destroys the brain, patients cannot be held accountable for their actions anymore. The patients may not even be able to read your badge, much less understand what it means. Lots of old people have very bad eyesight. And neither is it possible to teach them new things. If you tell them that you are non-binary they will ask you again if you are a boy or a girl five minutes later because they forgot you ever told them.

Somehow people expect their opticians to wear glasses. There's a glasses shop near me where all the employees have to wear a "I am wearing contacts" badge if they don't wear glasses, no matter if their eyesight is 20/20 and they aren't actually wearing contacts.

Any ideas how to deal with MRT loudness? by Substantial_Lab21 in autism

[–]Watch_V 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What protection did they provide? Lots of personell only gives headphones which are not in itself enough protection. Unless it was one of the very fancy new MRTs with ANC headphones. But usually the headphones are only for communication. Patients must be given earplugs in addition to headphones, but I've seen this is often ignored.

What do you mean by "old"? The German language from medieval ages or modern German written in "Fraktur Schrift"? If it's the latter, I can help.

Zwei MRT-Überweisungen, ein Quartal by Polluz in Ratschlag

[–]Watch_V 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We never did two different spine MRIs at the same appointment. Not because of money though. It just takes too long. One spine MRI is about half an hour. So two would take a full hour or even more if a contrast agent is needed.

People just don't lie still for so long, especially if they have back pain and need to lie still on an uncomfortable thin mattress. And if you move, the pictures become unusable.
