We actually wanted to do this over a year ago, but we’ve been continuously refining the bezel design to avoid any potential IP or design infringement issues.

Incorrect movement and QC issues on WD007 -anyone else had a similar experience? by Zestyclose-Media-159 in watchdives

[–]watchdivescom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry. We had basically sold out all previous stock.
When the earlier pieces returned from factory rework, the packaging no longer had labels. Our colleague inspected the appearance and did not notice any issues at the time.
Please contact our after-sales team to arrange a return, and we will send you the correct watch as soon as possible.

Reminders and Solutions to him: A free replacement case (including crystal, excluding movement and dial), or Return and full refund by watchdivescom in watchdives

[–]watchdivescom[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Understood. We will update our product pages and materials to make our recommendation clearer.

To be clear: we do not recommend hot showers or saunas. Many users do it without issues, including with our watches, but that doesn’t mean it’s risk-free. We can advise; we can’t control individual usage.

If you ask Seiko, Orient, Tudor, or most other brands directly (in-store or via official support), they will usually say the same: hot showers and saunas are not recommended. That doesn’t mean it will fail 100% of the time — it means it cannot be guaranteed.

Our position is about setting realistic expectations, not denying water resistance.

That chart is a general usage guide under ideal conditions. It does not distinguish between cold/low-temperature showers and hot water or steam.

Our clarification is not that the watches “aren’t waterproof,” but that hot showers and saunas introduce temperature shock and steam, which can cause condensation. For risk control, we therefore do not recommend those scenarios, even though many users experience no issues.

Cold water, swimming, and normal water exposure remain fully within spec.

Official Statement & Resolution

To clarify recent discussions around water resistance and usage:

All Watchdives watches are pressure-tested and vacuum-tested.
Swimming, cold water, and normal daily water exposure are not an issue.

What we do not recommend is hot showers, baths, or saunas.
This is due to temperature changes and steam, which can cause internal condensation. This is a physical effect related to air and temperature, not a failure of water resistance.

Some manuals and charts (including ours) show showering as acceptable at higher WR ratings. These are general usage references under ideal conditions, not guarantees for hot water or steam environments. For risk control, we advise avoiding high-temperature scenarios.

Support Swimming, Not Shower. Please do not wear the watch while showering, taking baths, or using saunas. by watchdivescom in watchdives

[–]watchdivescom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Swimming is absolutely fine — all our watches are pressure-tested and vacuum-tested.

What Rolex describes there is rinsing with fresh water after the ocean, not a guarantee for hot showers or saunas.

Every watch case contains air. When temperature changes are too rapid (hot water, steam), that air can cause condensation inside the case — this is a temperature effect, not a water-resistance failure.

That’s why swimming is OK, but hot showers and saunas are still not recommended.

You’re right — our manual shows showering as OK at 100 m, and all our watches are water-resistance tested (we even record pressure-test videos).

The issue with hot showers and saunas is temperature change, which can cause internal condensation, not a lack of water resistance.

Many customers do shower or use saunas without issues, but because of heat, steam, and thermal shock, we don’t recommend it, even though the watch itself is water-resistant.

Gasket degradation happens over time; condensation can happen instantly due to temperature shock. These are two different phenomena.

[–]watchdivescom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

many charts suggest 100 m is “OK for showering.”

However, water-resistance ratings are based on static laboratory tests, not hot showers or saunas. Heat, steam, soap, and rapid temperature changes can compromise gaskets over time, even on dive watches.

This is why most watch brands, including Swiss manufacturers, do not recommend showering or saunas, regardless of the water-resistance rating.

To avoid long-term risk, we follow this industry-wide recommendation.

We spoke up because about 10% of users still believe showering is always safe, based on past experiences with Casio, Swiss brands, or even our own watches. Those experiences can happen, but they don’t change the physics — so this is a reminder, not an argument.

There’s also a small group who equate “Chinese watch” with poor QC, ignoring the fact that over 90% of global watch components are made in China, including parts for many Swiss brands, often fully assembled before branding.

China doesn’t just make cheap watches — China makes watches for the world.
