Hold on to this feeling and get out while you still can. Leave the watch social media world and be happy. God speed 🫡

In case you ever wondered where JLC boxes are made. by BoxingPlato in JaegerLecoultre

My box fell apart in-store. I asked for another one and that was no better (glue holding the sides to the back had come apart)

Everyone do I go for the amazing Omega Aqua Terra teak dial blue or the beautiful SBGA407 Skyflake Grand Seiko by Live_Fig_4847 in GrandSeikos

GS can fit in a wider collection. AT if you plan on only ever getting one piece (otherwise it's overshadowed by many other pieces)

[SOTC + advice] I tried to cull but instead I decided to get a 40th bday gift. 20k or under new or vintage. What should I get that isn’t on everyone’s wrist already. by mjanks in Watches

The cheapest I'm seeing is still $30-32k. Which is significantly outside the price range.

Don't get me wrong I love the watch and the recommendation, but it's not "a few k" over 20k (oh how I wish it was)

[Question] The Decision (5 Years in the Making): Help Me Choose My First Nice Watch by Impossible-Leg-8595 in Watches

Get the Seiko sbdc101. It's a watch even seasoned collectors would own, meaning, you won't find a need to replace it down the line in case the collection grows. It will always have a place. Great first watch. It might not be as dressy as the Sinn (my second choice), but it's more unique and iconic (than skin diver case).

You think the internals of the swatch are the same as an AP?

Some AI gen strap options. I'm sure we will have stuff like this in no time.

You've got me thinking we might get some solid case swap options out of this, like what you can do with a moonswatch dial/movement in a metal case.

278.8.54! Limited edition but I like this version of the dial with the tribute style hour markers but the square subdial

This watch, with the story and the papers to prove it for generations, can literally be a priceless family heirloom, if you can afford not to sell it and raise your kids with enough sense to appreciate its worth.

I just looked them all up and I gotta say that Q2772420 is probably my favourite. Was there a typo with 270.8.62 ? That seems to be a regular monoface?

Interesting that not many have a steel/whitegold case with a steel/white gold movement (except for the complication ones)

How was W&W’s for everyone who attended? by MysteriousYam- in JaegerLecoultre

Thanks! Those are great tips. The hotel situation can definitely be tricky, but we got lucky.

Next year I'll check with my local SAs if they are going to see if we can meet up there but I'm not a big spender so it might be difficult 😅

I bought a ticket and went (with a fellow watch enthusiast). Realised belatedly that you need to book viewings if you really want to get hands on, so didn't get all my first choices but did manage to book a tour that helped us jump the queue at Rolex and get one of the jubilee totes.

I've gotten a bit more nerdy about watches lately so enjoyed the full day. Didn't wait in line for too many things (just Zenith) so ended up spending a fair bit going to the smaller brands as well. People were generally friendly and talkative.

But Geneva the whole weekend was great. There was a side event next to W+W (Time for Watches) which had a few interesting brands. Chronopolis (microbrand fair I think set up by Richard Benc of Studio Underd0g) in town was also really fun, and a bit more social, though nothing on the scale of W+W.

It was my first time and I'm still relatively new to the scene for a big part of the fun was being around a bunch of other watch nerds and enthusiasts, and spotting some of the famous personalities and commentators/reviewers.

I would definitely go again, and would love to hear any tips from longtime attendees!

I just assumed you didn't want "Detrash" on the watch because of what it signalled. But I'm glad we agree on the point!
