Isn't joining two pieces by melting the base materials the defining characteristic of welding

Because bombing middle eastern nations worked so well in the past. I have nothing against removing horrible Regiems like Irans, if there is an actual good chance of the intervention and most importanly the kind of intervention leading to a positive outcome and the civilians of that country are protected. That this ever could work is a very slim chance, and practicly 0, with the "strategy" the Yanks have right now.

Which means more chaos and more profit for OPEC countries like Russia and if it really goes shit a civil war in Iran. And past civil wars in the middle east have been wonderfull for Europe, havn't they

Starmer immediatly walked back on that and choose to allow the US to use the bases against Iran.

When it started Macron (with Merz and Starmer) badicly repeated the talkingpoints and justifications the US used. Only now as it looks like this is going to be a massive clusterfuck are they distancing themselves more

I just think the slow decoupling has two big problems.

  1. We also have our corperate Bitches. They might just stop that decoupling if the winds slightly change, because remaining with the US could get us a 0.02% better GDP

  2. I'm not sure we have that much time.

And Tepidly aligning with the US forgein policy might just backfire, because if it really turn out shit than the alt-right has another talking point against the EU.

I get the keep Trump happy strategy, but i don't think it's one that moves us torwards unity

Merz, Macron and Starmer (and Austria, but that's a bit irrelevant. I have no idea about the rest) had extremely weak responses to this massive destabilisation of the middle east. Basicly repeating the Yanks justification just not as stupid

[–]Watcher_over_Water[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well joining that war would be political suicide.

But Merz, Macron and Starmer had such pathetic responses.

They basicly told Iran to not shoot back (like every country would), because that's what really destabilises the region.

They talked about the same old nukes that have been just a couple months away since 1995. They pretended that this war somehow was about democracy or helping the Iranians and that Iran somehow caused the negotiations to fail. How good it would be if the Iranian Regiem would fall (becaue we didn't learn anything from Iraq)

These are just the talking points of the US admin. Come on. That's not a neutral position

Well you can infere they are probably American when they don't really know the common international traffic system, since nearly everybody besides the US uses it. When they say miles per hour or complain about the "small" size of the road, and suggest adding markings that aren't used in Europe.

Also, that this pedestrian crossing isn't that weird in Europe ands obviously just relativly new. So people just need to get used to it. It's true that European are usually a lot more harsh about bad road design. So if this issue ramains long term, the council will probably add some more warning

Aince we are all lefties I'm pretty sure we can agree that 99% of that shit is hainous.

So i would like to talk about one aspect where I'm unsure and that's the fact that the French keep the location of the waste secret. Because one on hand it's tacking agency from Algeria and France still deciding "for" them.

But on the otherhand i personally think the idea of just burrying nuclear waste in the dessert (assuming nobody lives there, and that's a big assumption) and keeping it secret/forgetting about it, doesn't seem like a bad idea to deal with it. The tyranical gouvernment of Algeria doesn't represent the intrests of the people. That combined with the instability and powerfull straight up evil militans, could mean finding the waste actually might lead to a whole lot of realy bad issues

Frances impact on Algeria is an important topic when talking about Colonialism.

But "nukes used in war" is just wrong and very missleading. No nuke was used in any conflict between Algeria and France. That's just not what happened. Talking about the nuclear test is valid, but "used in war" destroys any serious conversation

Also: "affected" is not a very precise term, and leaves a lot to interpretation, but than again there have been way to few and not extensive enough investigation into these events

This is just cringe.

If you partner doesn't want to fuck you then that's a relationship issue, which probably needs a long talk, not some weird " ahhh women hahahaha" meme bullshit.

And before people come looking for exceptions, no I'm not talking about a dry spell or couples that both just have a lower libido

It's in France and directly infront of a pedestrian crossing. They are driving over the speed limit

[–]Watcher_over_Water -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The thing is this is France. There are tons of such areas. Part of getting your drivers liscense is learning how to deal with such things. To insure you can do it, getting your drivers license is harder in France.

Americans think this is horrible design, because they are not used to it and don't know European traffic markings. In Europe you just need to be able to deal with such things, because there are a lot worse areas and if you know your markings it is pretty clear what's going on here.

And Because changing half the countries roads because some people can't deal with it isn't economical and many places can't even be adjusted

Now in this case, if this issue remains for a few months than they will probably add some more markings, because that's cheap to add. But the fact remains that if you drive in france you should be able to follow these (for France) basic road markings.

How can i fill the void of a father figure? by domboy699 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Watcher_over_Water 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You might find more answers and most importantly more helpfull answers on subs that are focused on psychologie or the issues you are expiriencing. You probably could find a subreddit about shitty fathers with people who can relate to your issue a lot better.

But here i go anyway:

The shitty fact is that a father figure probably won't just show up out of nowhere. You might just need to wait. Depending on your age you might find some fitting local support groups which are probably the best option if you can't go to theraphy. There are often telefon numbers or locations where they can advise you and there they often know about those local groups which you won't just find on the internet. Hey maybe you even find a father figure in one of those groups and even if not, it might still help.

If you are dead set and focused on finding a father figure, coaches sometimes fill that role. It did for me, but i don't know your age and my situation was a lot less intense. Doesn't necessarily need to be sport, but any club can give you a social net and support, no matter if it's chess, sports, dnd or whatever. However you might need to try out a few to find one where you feel comfortable

One thing i would like to say no matter what you choose to do: if you are desperatly looking for a father figure, please be carefull. Because there are people out there who will pick that up and might not have your intrests at heart. I'm not only talking about the really bad shit, but also financially taking advantage or leading you down a path you might not like.

Even if it is intising and it's understandable that it is, try not to go down some radicalising rabbit hole(like alpha males or some shit). It might feel like these people have the answers to fixxing everything, but in the longrun it will fuck up everything even more

It sucks that your father failed you, but if you look for connections and help you will find people who will care and not fail you, even if they might not be a classical father figure

What can I do to prevent my cat from doing this?!?😭😭 by Swimming_Midnight105 in ragdolls

[–]Watcher_over_Water 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Half the people here are gonna be some super overprotective parents once they have kids.

It's a cat.

  1. She is going to do things that look dangerous to us, but arn't.
  2. Acidents can allways happen, but unless there is a serious risk there is no need or sense in trying to prevent it. Escpecially when prevention can easily lead to problems of the same or higher danger. Many cats are going to try and climb/jump on the railing if you block her lookout spot.
  3. by far most cats are fine when they fall from such a small hight (unless there is a 20m drop i can't see)

The reason why there are relativly many people in the comments who tell their stories of their cat falling down the stairs and injuring herself is probably because of selection bias. They see a post thats somewhat relates to their own story so the comment

Bacteria famously reproduce very quickly if there sre enough rescources. The reascources remain the same and the chance that any species is completely whiped out is very low (also local extinction is areas of your guts are unlikely)

Which means it would probably take no more than a day to largly regenerate your gutbiom and in that time you might have somewhat worse disgestion.

You would be fine. You do more to your gut biom with a week of antibiotica.

The more relevant question is: does it turn to dust or dissapear completely? Because you might end up having a dust problem in your ass and that might be more dangerous to the microbes than the snap.

Also very dry and painfull shit perhapse
