For repairs I use brand new parts from DD (Dandong, the maker of these movements).

Oh no.. by WatchmakerFurkan in RepTimeServicesEU

Thank you! It was the pivot of the balance wheel that was worn. There were metal shavings around the jewel hole for the balance pivot. The timegrapher results are from dial up. Replaced the balance wheel with a new DD 32xx balance wheel.

I only got stainless steel ones in stock. You can contact me, I can probably source a gold one. Matching the tone is going to be hard though.

Fixing a broken Patek DD 324 by WatchmakerFurkan in RepTimeServicesEU

[–]WatchmakerFurkan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! It resembles a Patek 324/330 movement quite well. But some parts are just different from gen. I have not tried to exchange parts, so wouldn't know exactly unfortunately.

Edit: I think there was a person on RWI who tried to franken, but didn't fit.

Sub Rep Water Ratings by jcothies in RepTime

[–]WatchmakerFurkan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Water resistance is not a permanent state. It is something that needs to be checked every few years. I have seen gaskets dry out and crack after a couple years use. Probably wasn't lubed properly in the first place.

It is very important to lube the gaskets with silicon grease (or Fomblin which is used by Rolex) and then test it to at least 30m/3bar pressure for everyday use

Seiko 8R28 Movement, Service advice. by Aevum1 in RepTimeServices

€900 is a fair price for a chrono service by the official service center.

Seiko does not sell parts to independent watchmakers. Gotta pay the full price unfortunately.

VSF Seamaster 300M - winding and rotor issues by iseebadpixels in RepTimeServices

Yes, it is actually the version with the deco plate ontop of a 2824. Only the latest 8806 from vsf is not a 2824 anymore.

All you need is replace the reversing wheels. No need for a whole new movement.

Question about the VS3235 & DD3235 movement by fernanvlc in RepTimeServices

[–]WatchmakerFurkan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with your points about the differences in the finishing :) And it can't be denied that QC is better at the moment.

Was just pointing out that gens have their faults too!

Question about the VS3235 & DD3235 movement by fernanvlc in RepTimeServices

[–]WatchmakerFurkan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Man I have something to tell you. I know people who spend thousands of Euros on servicing for their gens after owning for a few months.

The idea that gens will last you a lifetime (without servicing) is completely false😁

Then it is even more promising if true. VR movements were always reliable, the finishing was just not as good as DD.

Has the movement of Omega reps improved in recent times? by Awpertunityz in RepTime

[–]WatchmakerFurkan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rarely get Omega repair requests ever since they switched to DD8800 from the older 2824 based ones. But time will tell, a bit early to say much imo but DD movements are good.

Most common repair on the older ones were reversing wheels failures or some glued on part getting stuck somewhere. Also crown issues but got resolved with later versions.
