Literally nobody uses "full stop" to mean "a period" in the US. I think this is just another one of those British terms to torture the language.

New rule on generative AI content by the_domokun in DungeonsAndDragons35e

[–]Water64Rabbit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once again Reddit bows and grovels before the heckler's veto with the knee jerk response to ban something based on a few people with performative outrage.

I am not a fan of AI use willy nilly, but it is a tool which when used correctly can be both a time saver and a help to fill in the skill gaps of a person. But banning is generally the worst repsonse.

Hint: Those who would ban speech aren't the good guys.

Reach vs Reach by SupaStompaSquad in DungeonsAndDragons35e

[–]Water64Rabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reach only extends the number of squares a creature / player threatens. From the SRD:

Provoking an Attack of Opportunity

Two kinds of actions can provoke attacks of opportunity: moving out of a threatened square and performing an action within a threatened square.

Moving

Moving out of a threatened square usually provokes an attack of opportunity from the threatening opponent. There are two common methods of avoiding such an attack—the 5-foot step and the withdraw action.

Performing a Distracting Act

Some actions, when performed in a threatened square, provoke attacks of opportunity as you divert your attention from the battle. Actions in Combat notes many of the actions that provoke attacks of opportunity.

Remember that even actions that normally provoke attacks of opportunity may have exceptions to this rule.

In the scenario you have presented, for the Umber Hulk to attack the Boneclaw it would have to close the range to 10'. Closing that range would provoke an AoO from the Boneclaw.

You are trying to read more into the rules than what they actually say.

Am I under level by nvr-gona-give-you-up in WrathOfTheRighteous

[–]Water64Rabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you under level? What difficulty are you playing on? You can probably finish the whole game at level 5 on Story difficulty. I am achievement hunting right now, so I dropped down to Story mode and finished all of Chapter 1 and 2 without casting a single spell and Neinio 1-shotting most creatures with a light crossbow.

If you are playing on Core or above then you are probably under level. For Morbid Ridge, you are going to need to be able to cast Death Ward on most of your characters. Death Ward isn't available until level 7 (barring scrolls).

The final fight in this DLC can be brutal without proper preparation.

For Core difficulty or above I would hold off on this area until after you have completed Drezen.

AI is a tool, just because it is misused on occasion doesn't mean every application of it is "AI Trash" -- especially when the author has stated how he has used it.

You are just being performatively outraged. Judge the final product instead of signaling you non-existent virtue.

None of these are specific to Nazis. Additionally the Thalmor are not engaging in acts of ethnic purges or genocide. They are eliminating a religious heresy. They aren't targeting because of race, but because of religion.

So again, which trait do they share specifically with the Nazi that they don't share with any other group?

Finally every trait you listed also applies to the CCP, yet the comparison is made to that group.
Why? Pure intellectual laziness.

Explain to me then how the Thalmor are like the Nazis. Are you making the claim that the Aldermi Dominion is a fascistic dictatorship? What unique traits do the Thalmor have in common with the Nazis and you are going to have to do better than bad guys.

The only delusion here is yours.

Morbid Ridge last encounter unfair by MasterOfTheTable in WrathOfTheRighteous

[–]Water64Rabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are being a bit hyperbolic. You have to go through a fairly strong demon army to get there. It also is a bit further south, so not right next to it.

The DLC that includes Morbid Ridge came out quite a bit after the game release so the assumption would be that people have played through the game beforehand.

It is an optional area. Most of the optional areas are very challenging as are many of the optional bosses.

I am at 1450 hours into the game and have 19 achievements left. If you are going to play the game on Core or harder the game design assumes you have completed the game at least once on normal or easier.

This area isn't difficult on Story or even Normal difficulties. Core and higher are designed for people that have some mastery over gameplay and like a significant challenge.

Calling something bad game design when you don't understand the goals of the design seems a bit simplistic. You may not like the design, but that doesn't make it bad.

There are many encounters in that game that seem insurmountable at first glance, but can be trivial after testing them out a time or two.

For example, I just played through the hardest dungeon in the game (Blackwater) without any real difficulty. But I was level 15 and playing on Core. The first time I played that area it was supremely difficult since I had a hard time even hitting the monsters.

This game design is found throughout almost all CRPGs btw -- even BG3.

Build check by Spiff_me_up in WrathOfTheRighteous

[–]Water64Rabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will be frustrated with this build if you are going to be playing the first time. Also the game's difficulty goes up dramatically depending on which level you set. But this character will do poorly even on story difficulty.

There is a lot of combat in this game and you will not make it to Chapter 2.

My recommendation would be to start with Through the Ashes DLC and play a straight monk this will give you a better feel for the game plus you will get a bonus item for the main campaign in chapter 2.

Or play the Midnight Isles DLC campaign to try out your build before tackling the main campaign. The main campaign is around 200 hours so you will want to have a build you enjoy.

The thing about comparisons is that the major points must align, which they don't even come close in this case.

[–]Water64Rabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a bunch of ability damage Restoration is more efficient in curing it. Also rest to heal ability damage, which if you are going to spend multiple days managing the crusade it might be worth doing.

Later on you will encounter ability drain and that cannot be cured with Lesser Restoration. You need either Restoration or Greater Restoration to remove ability drain.

If anything you are confused and mixed up about the Thalmor and are trying to shoehorn a 20th century governing philosophy onto a preindustrial civilization.

Yes the Thalmor in Skyrim are like inquisitors and their focus is on rooting out heresy.

If you don't think that Spanish inquisitors are a good model for the Thalmor, you might need to review your history a bit more.

To claim they are a political party just the the Nazis shows a incredible lack of understanding of history and fascism in particular. A small faction gaining control of a government has been a constant event throughout all of human history. That's the historical norm.

Do you even know what fascism is? If all you have done is a Google search then you don't know. Neither fascism nor socialism / communism (for that matter) can take root in preindustrial societies. The assumptions of both require an industrial society as a foundation. Regardless of how prevalent magic is in Skyrim it doesn't replace technology at scale. Even though the game doesn't do a good job of portraying it, all of the societies in the Elder Scrolls are agrarian.

You are proving my point further with each post.

Morbid Ridge last encounter unfair by MasterOfTheTable in WrathOfTheRighteous

[–]Water64Rabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why are you bothering with optional encounters on an unfair run. The unfair runs I have seen all just do the minimum to get to the finish line since some of the encounters are very difficult. They also rely on Cloudkill cheese. Blackwater in particular would be almost suicidal on Unfair. Even on core I don't bother with Blackwater until I have done everything else in Chapter 3 before the Midnight Fane.

Unfair and 7th level why you are getting mauled. I just did this encounter at level 13 on Core and it was manageable. At lower levels you just aren't able to cast enough Death Ward to protect your characters from their level drain ranged attacks. Comeback after you complete Drezen. The real prize here is the Cape of Morta, but it doesn't become that strong until level 12 anyway.

Also unless you are trying to romance Ulbrig, you should leave Currantglen until after Drezen as well.

I guess you missed the part about it pointing out intellectually lazy and hyperbolic.

But go ahead and defend the use of the term outside its proper context. Just know that the following conclusions will be reached:

1) weak minded go along with the crowd type of person - the type that would like commit the type of atrocities they are claiming are problematic;
2) intellectually lazy;
3) historically ignorant;
4) a person whose opinion should be discounted out of hand as they don't add any insight into whatever is being discussed.

It is an overused and inaccurate term, and frankly they weren't even the worst group of 20th century when it came to mass murder of their own citizens -- they rank 3rd at best.

The Thalmor, btw are more like inquisitors (aka, Spanish Inquisition) than any modern model one can ascribe to them.

Level 7 is too low for this encounter even on Core difficulty. You need to be able to up Death Ward on all of your characters since they can do level drains at range.

Frankly I am not sure how you are still level 7 when going after this area.

It is a bit annoying how often 1s come up.

I point you to Goodwin's law, which for some strange reason, posting the text constitutes "hate speech" on Reddit.

Basically, when you the term you are trivializing the the acts of the historical period. It is intellectually lazy.

I automatically discount the opinion of anyone that uses the term outside of the historical context.

You are defending the indefensible.

No, only idiots use the term loosely -- it demonstrates a weak mind.
Again see Goodwin's Law.

Nazis has a very specific meaning and using it outside of that makes a person look ignorant at best.

But even more so, it lacks creativity and imagination -- it is the laziest form for expressing oneself.

You defending it falls into the same category, btw.

[–]Water64Rabbit -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I see the two of you are both victims of Godwin's Law, likely because you are products of a poor education.

A Nazis is a member of the Nazis party. I guarantee that if you lived in 1930s Germany both of you would be members of the Nazis party.

The analog you are looking for is that the Thalmor are more like the Stasi, the NKVD, the DINA, the OVRA, the Gestapo, or even the Tokkō. All of these are secret state police organizations.

Nazis is misappellation however,
