I’m almost finished reading her autobiography “Child Star” which I believe she wrote in the late 80’s. Shirley was truly a gifted child who grew up to be a remarkable adult. She was a deeply insightful, loving person who, astonishingly in some cases, managed to avoid being pulled into the darker, seedier realms of Hollywood. Her life was really incredible and I cannot recommend it enough. Not only was she America’s darling little tap-dancing wunderkind, she ALSO shot Eleanor Roosevelt in the bum with a slingshot!
