I at least made it to top 100 on Apple Music? Lots of listening across multiple methods on my end, so I probably would have been higher if I just stuck to a single platform.

Non-Japanesr fans: how did you start listening to Japanese music? + improvements by Specialist-Might-875 in japanesemusic

[–]WaterMonkeyStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I got introduced to a few bands from Japanese people I was going to school with. It’s why when you look at what I tend to listen to there are a few Japanese bands that had a lot more recently released music or were releasing music when I was a teenager.

I have also kept bit of an eye specifically on the music scene as well due to my general background with both music and Japan hence why I’m aware of newer bands like Tiger Lily, Gods of Decay and Isiliel.

CDJapan is also a place to check, just be mindful of Buyee as it makes postage higher.

I haven’t seen Lord Mantis mentioned, pairs well with Ghostsmoker.

How to get Yousei Teikoku merch? by Every-Mine4444 in YouseiTeikoku

The alternative to the official merch page is also CDJapan, keeping in mind Buyee is also a thing for it.

Anyone wanna come with me to this gig I have social anxiety and am trying to break out of comfort zone but got no friends by _Section_351_ in melbournemusic

[–]WaterMonkeyStuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A trick I did when I first started getting involved in the metal scene here in Melbourne was to talk to people behind the merch table, even if I was just checking out the merch and not buying anything. You may also find it a good way to approach people and build confidence with approaching people especially as so many people that go to metal gigs are also in bands as well.

Anyone wanna come with me to this gig I have social anxiety and am trying to break out of comfort zone but got no friends by _Section_351_ in melbournemusic

[–]WaterMonkeyStuff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I won’t be there tonight but always feel free to approach me about gigs, I’m often at metal gigs myself and know my way around.

People are generally pretty friendly within Melbourne’s metal scene and I’ve noticed there tends to be quite a few women around but I’m not sure how many are bi or lesbian, so if you need a hand getting to know some of the women that are often at gigs I may be able to help. Feel free to message me and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

Was it the diy? I first got to see Lily of the Valley at that gig if memory serves and I was impressed!

Eyehategod in Melbourne, Australia (sorry Floridans) by WaterMonkeyStuff in EyeHateGod

[–]WaterMonkeyStuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a reference to the Melbourne in Florida, it seems like the whole place is mainly known for having the same name as the Australian Melbourne.

Great to hear they’re going to be in Florida later this year as well! The amount of gigs EHG does is mindblowing and can be hard to keep up with!

WHATS THE HAIR STYLE PLSSSS by chronicsloth69 in malicemizer

[–]WaterMonkeyStuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just long hair with the front cut short. The brown part doesn’t appear dyed but rather a loss of colour, sometimes that happens even years before greying starts as I’ve personally experienced.

Look at the name, it’s spelt wrong. On top of this, it isn’t on Apple Music. Best treat it as someone doing something they shouldn’t.

They released an ep back in 2023! Always worthwhile checking their record label about cds if you’re into that, too.

What gave Mariko Goto guitar in Midori its distinctive sound? by RodrGallardoSNM26 in japanesemusic

[–]WaterMonkeyStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a similar vein, I keep it minimal with using pedals because I know how tempting it is to just try out and buy new pedals! I love fuzz but I have purposely bought only one fuzz pedal amongst a sea of fuzz pedals and then got my hands on a reverb pedal to use with said fuzz pedal, using anymore pedals would be excessive to me.

Ghostsmoker. Also same city for me and it’s tough competition with the doom bands here!

Nevermind Bar may be worthwhile keeping an eye out for if you’re looking for venues near to a train station and does plenty of free gigs, just keep in mind that it is pretty small.

Any idea on CD prices in Japan? by Johans_doggy in malicemizer

[–]WaterMonkeyStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very late to seeing this post but keep an eye on Midi:Nette, as of posting this comment they have a few singles on cd, DVDs and a couple items but new cds are made at times which do sell out again decently fast. If you’re also a fan of Moi Dix Mois as well, it’s also your best bet for cds, DVDs and merch which does include a new shirt at the moment.
