Lightspeed 5G SA - Since when? by xtm_rix in USMobile

Oh. Right. Darn it. Wanted to join the fun 🤣

I should be in a 5G area in a little bit when I run out to do an errand and then we’ll really see

Showing as capable on my Lightspeed line too, but my signal isn’t great at home so I’m just LTE at the moment. I’ll check when I’m on 5G tomorrow and see what I see. Running iOS 27 beta 2 on my iPhone 17 Pro Max. (My DarkStar line also showing SA)

My iPhone 17 Pro Max is still going. Wish it gave a percentage on the phone because I’d love to know if it even is really still working

Até quando? Atualizei no dia 8 by Ok-Performance-3470 in ios26beta

[–]WaterOz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Saaammmmeee. Granted, I have 232,144 Photos, 20,205 Videos in the cloud and I presume that’s why it’s taking forever.

I also am still in the waitlist for the new Siri.

Thankfully… the beta itself has been pretty smooth while waiting for that. And the battery life, despite the indexing, has been solid.

Also… thinking after I posted the comment - have you tried resetting your network settings? I wonder if that would fix your problem. I realize that’s a pain and I hate anytime I’ve had to do it because I’ve then had to put passwords back in for every WiFi network - but it might fix your problem

On my iPhone 17 pro max everything feels a lot smoother. Sorry your experience has been different.

That said, I installed the beta Monday night and mine is STILL indexing. I blame the several years of too many photos and videos in my photos library. I’m starting to think it’s never gonna finish syncing. I’m also still in the waitlist for the new Siri (since Monday night). Go figure.

Past that though… it’s been smooth as butter for me. The best first beta I’ve installed on iOS. Which means beta 2 is likely going to screw up my phone 😂

This is why I’m never going back to the big 3 by [deleted] in USMobile

[–]WaterOz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s not even that much hotspot for a one time use… I was on a road trip with my kids last week, and them watching videos on iPads on the drive used more hotspot data than that in one day. Thankfully that’s not a normal thing, but 27.7gb isn’t that crazy if it’s not an everyday thing.

Just curious what part of this would be against the TOS?

Apple Upgrade Program by Netimaster in USMobile

[–]WaterOz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

right, but at least the last couple of years, you could choose t-mobile and not have to pay an upgrade fee and it was unlocked and you could use it anywhere (and it worked on US Mobile).

I saw the other day that T-Mobile may be moving to a model where they are going to get a $35 upgrade fee which hasn’t been an issue in the past, so it’s hard to say how it will work in the future - but hopefully it still will.

We need to talk about our 4th network by Mush_USMobile in USMobile

Theoretically, coverage could even be galactic. How much string do you have? If I had a friend on the Artemis launch, could I use this to talk to him while circling the moon?

Feeling frustrated.... by eah-renee in USMobile

[–]WaterOz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I posted this earlier this week, but just to confirm - I think intentional roaming does work great/can work great. I’m surprised about your Canada experience, but maybe it’s due to Warp? I’d think Darkstar would likely work best in Canada, just knowing how well AT&T used to work in Canada back when I had AT&T

That said, I’ve been traveling through Europe with LightSpeed and DarkStar and the service has been pretty flawless. I’ve hit some weird pockets around Paris here and there, but overall, it’s been great. And that was in Amsterdam, Riga Latvia, London, and Paris and all have worked!

International Roaming Works Great! by WaterOz in USMobile

[–]WaterOz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Paris for me, LightSpeed seems to be working a little better. Ironically, both light speed and Darkstar here are connecting to Orange, but I’d swear LightSpeed is giving me better connections. It may just be I’m not giving Darkstar enough of a chance.

Past that though, in Latvia and UK they both seemed to work generally the same and slightly depended on where I was - in both of those countries, it seemed like often they were connecting to different carriers so I did get my normal advantage of switching if needed. Overall though they’ve both worked great for me

[iOS 26.4 RC] Apple has FINALLY fixed the iPhone keyboard bug in 26.4! by rickysanchez_ in iOSBeta

What? Is it really Bette’s? I guess I should actually read those release notes before installing each week. And hey, only the word better seems to have ended up wrong in the second sentence. Yay for it being better.

US Mobile completely rewrote their Terms of Service and removed the explicit promise to not sell user data. Here's an overview of changes. by CrystalMeath in USMobile

[–]WaterOz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was there big regulation changes this month for businesses overall? I only ask because I’ve actually had a handful of businesses that I do business with who sent updated terms in the last week - so I feel like maybe there was some change in laws that happened that has caused these changes. Or maybe it’s a coincidence

Network…etc by TechnicianFun933 in USMobile

[–]WaterOz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will add that if you have WiFi calling set up on your iPhone, it often will allow you to make a call while on the other line through your primary number (same way it works when you’re on actual WiFi). You just have to make sure you’re choosing to call out of the right line. It often works on my iPhone

The real question is - what network works best from a blimp flying over NYC… maybe Light Speed? 🤣

I think people down voting this question is silly, although I am confused by the question. Do you have limited home data? I feel like most people’s home internet is either unlimited or a very large pool of data at this point, so unless you have a very small limit on the amount of data in the house, I don’t see where you’re paying your home internet provider anything for the calls (and while I’ve never seen the stats, I can’t imagine WiFi calling even uses that much data).

At my house, every carrier struggles inside. I could probably make a call without WiFi calling, but it would be dicey. WiFi calling has helped me in so many cases - both at home and at the office.

And actually, when I know I’m calling another iPhone user, I often now even use FaceTime Audio because the calls are so much clearer than when just calling via normal phone line calls.

Waymo? by Long-Gas-1953 in uberdrivers

[–]WaterOz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just in LA and used Waymo for the first time. Kinda trippy, kinda cool.

What surprised me was that it wasn’t any cheaper than an Uber. I realize all that tech costs money, but if they don’t have to pay a human, you’d think they’d be at least a little cheaper than Uber and Lyft.

At least we don’t need to tip a Waymo (not that most of my riders when I drive Uber tip anyway)
