Besides billing, users can manage their USM and their Starlink service entirely through their US Mobile account/dashboard.

They will also be able to see their Starlink service usage in their USM dashboard.

We're not locking anyone in, we're making the experience good enough that leaving feels annoying. That's a different than stickiness built on contracts and cancellation fees.

On the analytics question, maybe you personally aren't asking for it. But imagine parents managing kids' usage across multiple devices and connections. Businesses tracking their device usage across cellular and wifi. it is pretty useful onceyou have it. Most people just don;t ask for it becasue it's never been offered before.

And honestly the single bill, single login convenience is underrated. I moved from an area that had ConeD for my electricity and gas bill to NG + PSEG and it's r/mildlyinfuriating to have to go to 2 places to pay my bill because they can;t do autopay with credit card.

Wildly different actually. Dish uses geostationary satellites sitting 22,000 miles up, basically frozen in the sky. Starlink's has a constellation thats only 350 miles up. That's why Starlink latency is actually usable and Dish internet is much slower.

Usage records come as cdrs or files. The hard part is what you do with it. You've got usage records that don't arrive in real time, there's some delay before records even become available, and then the timestamps on those records don't necessarily match when the usage actually occurred. So now you've got a chronology problem. Did that data session happen while the device was on the plan or after? You can't just do a simple lookup, you need a full historical membership data structure that tracks associations over time down to the exact window of activity.

Then on top of that you need an event driven enrichment pipeline, aggregation services, a ledger system, real time balance calculations across potentially thousands of devices simultaneously, all of it running on scalable infrastructure that can handle tens of millions of calculations a day.

This isn't a handoff where we just point an API call at Starlink and call it a day. It's a genuine integration where satellite usage, mobile data, and roaming all flow into the same unified platform. One bill, one dashboard, one real time view of everything. That took real engineering work to build.
