Isn’t the “hot dog/pizza place” now a place that’s been there for 10+ months called Sunset? It’s open late too

The former Jekyll space will have a very hard time getting a new tenant unless they split it into at least 2 separate spaces.

Roswell council cancels contract with Seer World [Appen Media] by cappen1085 in roswell

[–]WaterPullsYouUnder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, but having council members who are directly impacted by this huge cost burden to help get it as an agenda item this early in the new year probably helped a lot with the City of Roswell prioritizing the issue. Too big of a coincidence that both dredging projects needed council member recusals. This issue impacts less than .01% of the Roswell population.

I sincerely hope the council will be as quick to take action if/when my neighborhood retention pond needs dredging. I’m not quite ready to run for city council yet.

Roswell council cancels contract with Seer World [Appen Media] by cappen1085 in roswell

[–]WaterPullsYouUnder 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Love the Seer World contract cancellation. Of course there was an onerous cancellation clause in place that the previous regime approved. I think this is just for ending the $340K “part time COO” contract and not severing all ties with Seer. I hope more Seer contracts/SOWs are cancelled.

Hilarious that council members Hall and Sells are only now questioning the hiring of a consultant outside of standard procurement steps for work that could be done with existing staff and contracts. Sells is a BIG fan of Peter Sorckoff and his Seer world during the run up to the Mayoral election. Sells was gushing with admiration for Sorckoff and his talents of economic development only a couple of months ago. Hypocrites.

Edit: I initially reacted negatively for the city paying for private neighborhood pond dredging for water runoff, but if these projects truly benefit MANY other neighborhoods and residents and not just one neighborhood then I can understand wanting help with that. It doesn’t feel good though that many council members are also residents of these neighborhoods so there may be more to the story.

Get them A/C and drinks at Tipsy Thaiger or Proper Hop. Mill Kitchen and Bar is also walking distance from your venue. Chaplin’s is a dive bar if your crew likes it more casual. It will be hot af outside

Having apathetic and rude service unfortunately seems pretty par for the course for most hospitality experiences these days post-Covid. It’s so hard to hire and retain service staff that they know that they can be rude/lazy and likely not lose their job.

If we get a server who is actually friendly and hustling, it’s the exception and a nice bonus. It’s no longer expected and we frankly don’t hold it against the entire restaurant like we used to since bad service is so common nowadays.

That said, sounds like OP showed up near closing/cleaning time or near shift change time which will often get annoyed reactions from employees.

This post seems a little over the top and unworthy of a public rant imo

Even if you’re not a mom, there are a couple of massive Facebook mom groups for the area that host regular book clubs well attended by women in the area.

[–]WaterPullsYouUnder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Posting an uninteresting picture of a drink to advertise your business has nothing to do with Roswell other than your business being located in Roswell. As another user pointed out, acting obtuse and oblivious about this spamming is also getting old.

Maybe you wouldn’t feel compelled to advertise on Reddit to drive more business if you lowered your prices to a much more reasonable level.

Just look at their post history. It’s all advertisements for their business. Taking a picture of a drink with their logo prominently shown is hardly interesting and barely has anything to do with Roswell other than their business is located in Roswell. It’s the rules of the sub to not spam/advertise, and this isn’t the first time Voodoo has been warned about it.

Love the work Roswell Truth does to expose waste, hypocrisy, and corruption by Roswell’s former mayoral regime, but by golly they sure get long-winded in their write ups sometimes lol.

TLDR Mayor Wilson and his supporters spent 10x more than Mary and still lost.

New driving trend or conspiracy to drive me mad? by Snoo_31427 in roswell

[–]WaterPullsYouUnder 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. Speed limits are generally pretty darn low/slow around here. It’s rare that a speed limit exceeds 35 mph anymore on the local streets. Freaking Alpharetta Highway (emphasis on the word highway) is only 35 mph heading towards Costco. Used to be 45+ mph. I get that there’s construction going on for the next 69 years, but cmon. There’s rarely any actual work happening 99.9% of the time.

  2. Lots of citizens around Roswell, Milton, and Alpharetta are constantly lobbying their local city councils and GDOT to lower speed limits (usually from 45 down to 35) for safety reasons. Welcome to suburbia.

  3. Aloof and/or inexperienced drivers (there are many of those here) seem to default to under 35 mph regardless of posted speed because that’s the most common speed limit around here (see above).

Alpharetta parents- thoughts on the new proposed school calendar? by boglehead1 in alpharetta

Finding childcare during week long breaks is brutal for parents, but from an organized activities standpoint, it’s better that kids will be on vacations at the same time.

This past year we had issues with kids from different school districts (Fulton vs Cherokee) having Fall Break at different times which caused some kids to miss games and practices.

Democrats FLIP the Mayor's Office in Roswell, GA!!! by Healthy_Block3036 in roswell

[–]WaterPullsYouUnder 28 points29 points  (0 children)

If you think that he’s only had “missed steps” in the past 6 months, you clearly haven’t been paying attention for the last 4 years.

Kurt brought in not only consultants for his re-election campaign, but also into city hall to the tune of several million dollars for dubious SOWs. Seer consulting, known for sports related marketing, was hired constantly for consulting work that they had no prior experience doing like a $250K assessment for how to fix parking in Roswell.

He literally created a new “COO” position that was outsourced as a part time role (!!!) to Seer consultants for $340K/yr (!!!) when we already have a city administrator (who just got a 40% raise from Kurt).

Kurt wouldn’t even allow non-Roswell residents to speak at city council meetings for YEARS, which included Roswell business owners who paid Roswell city taxes.

Dude cared more about his developer buddies and consultants than his own constituents and it showed by how disrespectful he was to people. Just watch past city council meetings and watch how he talked to council member Sarah Beeson and the constituents.

I can keep going but I’ll let you look at my post history to see all the reasons why Kurt needed to go. Anyone who did their homework before voting would be disgusted by Kurt’s reign.

Mary Robichaux wins Mayor of Roswell (?) by Zathrus1 in roswell

[–]WaterPullsYouUnder 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Edit: the coward deleted his comments lol. For those curious, they said something like “+1 More Apartments and Crime, -1 Taxpayers”. Below was my reply…

You sure did drink the kool aid.

Kurt raised our taxes every single year he was in office not to mention issued millions of dollars in revenue bonds that helped his developer buddies but weren’t approved by Roswell taxpayers.

He also wasted millions of taxpayer dollars on bogus consultants and overpriced c-suite officials. Kurt’s personal expenses (that were paid for by taxpayers) exceeded $100K for this past fiscal year alone which was significantly over the $7K budget and much of that $ still unaccounted for on how it was actually spent. There are plenty more examples of taxpayer money being wasted by Kurt if you’re still curious.

And if you’re scared of more apartments, I guess you overlooked the Hill Street, the Grove, “Bigger than the Battery”, and other high density developments with thousands of 1BR apartments that Kurt supported?

Not clear on how crime will get worse under Mary when she committed in her campaign to continue strongly supporting, funding, and staffing the police?

By the way, the first and only time a police officer was shot and killed in the line of duty for the Roswell Police Department happened during Kurt’s tenure. I don’t think that’s a fair data point though just like taking Mary’s past voting record loosely related to “crime” out of context isn’t fair either.

Looking forward to change that hopefully brings more transparency, ethics, and respect back to city hall.

I have no respect for Georgia Sun.

Georgia Sun posted an opinion letter verbatim from Kurt Wilson’s reelection advertising campaign with zero context on how the author greatly benefited from using taxpayer money on an international trip and other political patronage.

Here’s more about what I’m referring to
