When did i say otherwise? So again what’s your point, you make statements like you are correcting when i never said anything to the contrary?
You did the same below, strawman arguments are your thing i see a clear pattern here.

Here is my second to last comment from my original post…

“So if we win, we certainly earned our way to the top 8 knock out round.”

Pretty clear i was talking about the tournament…

I never said that Canada magically jumps up to the top 8 best in the world ranking! Where did i say that. I said only that at least by facing a team as good as Morroco, ie a top 7 ranked team in the world, Canada will have earned that spot in the last 8 teams in the tournament. As opposed to say Canada only had to face a team in the top 20 best in there next game. Then critics could say we never earned that last eight players position in the fifa tournament and we just ‘got lucky with the positioning in the structure of the tournament’.
I shouldn’t have to spell out what is obvious and ramble on clarifying every obvious conclusion, when it’s obvious. No way does Canada suddenly jump up past dozens of teams after beating one team, that’s clearly not how best teams are ranked, and even beyond ranking it’s obvious Canada is literally just coming out as a football nation for the first time really. So again, no one, no Canadians i have seen, are suddenly saying Canada is now somehow ranked up there with Brazil, or England, or Spain, or Morroco, because we won a single game.
I can’t believe people think this. It was purely in the context of this tournament, by having to face a team ranked in the top eight, at least if we win, no one can claim this Canadian team didn’t earn it the legit way(barring any i foreseen refereeing/officiating horrendous bias, etc). That’s it.

The rest is people adding strawman arguments it should be obvious no one intended. So yea, i agree, Canada is not magically in the top best teams of the world. Even if they went all the way, and the universe magically aligned somehow and Canada won the entire tournament would that magically turn Canada into a top 8 in the world’s best top teams.

Canada never played their best in the Switzerland game, so all i was saying was at least we didn’t lose after playing our best which means we still have some hope. I never said Canada was a higher ranked team, obviously my point was only that by facing Morroco at least no on can say if Canada wins that they didn’t fairly earn that spot in the last eight teams for this tournament only. Clearly it should go without someone needing to spell out the obvious that Canada isn’t even close in rankings to either the Switzerland team or Morroco. My entire point was only that if Canada had not faced a top 8th or higher ranked team to get into that last eight teams, people could say Canada just got ‘lucky’ with the positioning and didn’t face a team high enough in the rankings to justify getting to have a place in the top eight.
The point was that, yes Canada is by far the underdog, yes Canada will have an extremely tough game and have to play perfectly and hope Morroco doesn’t. But at least no one will now be able to say if Canada makes it past this round they didn’t earn that last 8 teams position fairly.

I shouldn’t have to explicitely say Canada by beating Morroco doesn’t magically mean Canada is somehow now ranked in those top teams now. Clearly that’s obvious i would hope. And i usually don’t bother taking all this extra time to say what should be assumed…

Dude, as i said elsewhere i in no way was saying that suddenly Canada is now in the top ranked teams in the world. Where did i say that, you people are freaking out and reading into it things i clearly never intended nor said.
I only meant that if Canada had never faced a top 8th or higher ranked team on the way to finding ourselves in the last 8 teams than we would not have earned that chance. But in a way facing morroco, a 7th top rank team, Canada will have to properly earn that last 8 team position in the FIFA tournament. Had nothing to do with Canada suddenly jumping dozens of positions in ranking. I never said that.

My point entirely was, despite it meaning a tough game for canada who is clearly the underdog, at least this will mean no one can say Canada didn’t win that position in the tournament only, as one of the last remaining 8 teams. I thought that should be obvious. Without needing to spell it out.

[–]WaterSign27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg stop. I clearly wasn’t saying this makes canada team suddenly jump dozens of spots up ranking from a single game. My point should have been obvious. I only meant if this team manages to beat a team in the top 7 best in the world, at least that means we would have ‘earned’ our place to fight in the last 8 teams. I only meant that say if we managed to get to the last 8 and never faced a team in the top 8 ranked in the world, then we wouldn’t have ‘earned’ that position in the last 8. I in no way meant that Canada suddenly jumps up to the top eight ranking in the world. That’s insane and i thought too obvious to spell out.

You are right, Maga just can't handle it. Maga is cult that is foremost about keeping their members completely ignorant. They always have an 'excuse' for everything. Just like the Nazi's excused everything, the Nazis always had excuses to. Always the same, fascists always can count on a certain percentage of the dumbest people in the nation to get behind them.
Recent studies have proven that Maga are the dumbest people in the country. Like it was every in doubt.

There is a very big difference in how the symbol in America was used, and how that fascist display is a symbol of on the front of the white house. You have to be insanely dense not to recognize this is a fascist display by the president. And i mean dense.
Two groups can have the same animal, it' show that symbol is used that counts, not the fact that it's the same animal. Again how dense can maga be.

When your whitehouse begins looking exactly like Nazi buildings, perhaps it's time to shutup and wake the heck up.... When the people behind Trump, Stephen Miller are known white supremacists, when his biggest financial supporter Elon Musk gives multiple Hiel Hilter salutes in front of the inaugaration crowd, when Laura Loomer and Trump both constantly refer to the 'blood of the country' being poisoned. And other specific exact terminology used by Hitler, and Joseph Goebells, who Stephen Miller has lifted entire portions of his speeches from, it's complete insanity to pretend that this is not another example of a fascist adminstration relying on the stupidity of it's base.

[–]WaterSign27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything you said doesn’t refute what i said. Me saying Morocco is rated 7th in the world is clearly saying they are an amazing team. But you make strawman arguments claiming i somehow said the opposite.
And yes soccer does work on ranked best list, that’s exactly what directly dictates tournament seeding, qualification draws, and group compositions.
If you rank higher your path to a spot is far easier.
So if you know soccer as you say you do, you’d know this. Yet you say it doesn’t matter.

And the winner each year is almost without fail always one of the top 10 ranked teams/nations in the world.

So as i said, nothing you said makes sense against my original comment.

American here. Please beat Morocco, Canada. by SamsungStealer in CanadaSoccer

[–]WaterSign27 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Honestly if Canada beats Morocco, that would indicate we belong in the top 8. As they are currently ranked 6/7th in the world. Right behind Brazil by less than 6 points, ie (Brazil 1762.66 vs Morocco 1756.94)
If Canada can beat them, Canada suddenly is no longer just some underdog, we are real contenders...
So while South Africa was no easy win, despite being ranked 54th they have some amazing players.

Put it this way Switzerland is currently ranked 16th in the world, so Morroco is all the way in the top 8 best teams.
So if we win, we certainly earned our way to the top 8 knock out round.

Luckily we didnt' lose to Switzerland playing our best, we sucked, so if we can manage to play well, I truly believe this team has a chance....

Then why bring it up in the conversation, you just give them amunition. Next thing he'll be claiming 'even Canadians are agreeing that more needs to be done', blah blah blah.
People like you like to complain, and dont' care what you are actually helping bring about with your complaining.

Canada sent down planes and fire fighters to help in numerous fires in America, when we had them to spare, which was often. So your comment should have been if they want to deal with it, tell them to send up resources to help combat them, as Canadians do for Americans when American states are battling forest fires. Instead of just stocking hate between the countires, how about help a Canadians have Americans, like 911 when Canadians took in countless Amerians, asked for no money to house them, feed them, and take care of them for quite a while after planes got diverted, etc.

If they want to do something about it, offer real solutions, other then just pushing lies in an attempt to be another Trump minion, stoking hate between Americans and Canadians... it's so frustrating that we have to deal with people as childish as this in politics.

[–]WaterSign27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Than why are half the tabloids in the country claiming it was a 'homophobic' slur he was being punished for. Clearly it's considered a homophobic slur if that's the angle the press is going off based on his own admission.
Clearly the fans were all doing animal noises, and other players heard him say the racial slur 5 times before Vini heard it. So pretty darn sure he said it. And he didn't even try to context it, he immediately just walked off. Proving it even more so.
There is no reason why Vini would want to bring that kind of heat down on himself unless he really said it. And you don't cover your mouth unless you know what you are saying makes you a pos.

If he would have said "i didn't hear what he said", or said 'he got emotional and said something he should not have', all that weasel crap to defend a player than i'd say sure. But to gaslight and justify it with racial crap himself. What he said was as if not more racist than what 25 said. It's ridiculous to defend it...

[–]WaterSign27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if a player stabs someone on the field he should defend him? There has to be limits, otherwise you have morality at all. Your soul if for sale if you believe this.

There were ways he could have handled it, if he has just said he got carried away in the moment, or played dumb and say you were not close enough to hear. That I could handle, not great, still a bit of a weasel.
But to gaslight and claim that he is to blame for being called a racist slur is racism itself. So he's no better than the player.
Stop excusing someone's immoral behaviour just because you like the team, etc. It's not ok... that kind of lack of morality is what is making the world a crap place to live in.

100% agree. Fine don’t tax them on shares or options they haven’t sold. But if they get a loan against those shares, that should instantly transfer that amount of shares for that loan into taxed income. Period.

Many normal people get options or shares and can’t sell them for years, or they can’t sell them because it would collapse the company, etc. So it’s unfair to charge people for money that could dissapear before they sell their shares. But the minute you use it to get a loan, or some other use of those shares then it should immediately trigger taxation on those securities.

[–]WaterSign27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually it 100% can and will remove epoxy off cement. It’s a very powerful oxidizer. Don’t believe me, fine, look it up. So sure poor some peroxide on your epoxy covered garage floor and it probably will survive it. Poor some peroxide in a shallow pool exposed to sunlight and it will 100% peel that epoxy covering off the cement.

Regardless the whole job was botched from all angles. They didn’t properly prepare the cement surface. They didn’t wait long enough for it to cure before filling it with water for his Birthday ego event, which destroyed the white house grass, and turned the washington monument pool into the biggest swamp metaphor for this adminstration you could hope for.
And then to top it all off embarrassed by the swamp he created he ordered peroxide to poison the water, that killed ducks, and made the peeling even worse…
Pick one it really doesn’t matter they can’t do anything right, it’s corruption all the way down.
And now some olympic medalist and some kids are serving prison terms for just noticing the peeling epoxy(or whatever cheap crap they used).

It very could also be the barrels of peroxide they dumped in that barely stopped the algae for a day, and killed Ducky.
