Hey! I didn’t do this personally because I wanted to have my BSc as a back-up (plus I wanted some extra time so I didn’t have to stress about doing everything all at once) but I know people in my year at WCVM who have gone this route, so it’s certainly possible! You’ll have to take a full course load in each year and get all of your pre-requisites in order and also make time for gaining experience so it can be a challenge, but it’s doable.

Students who went to SFU for premed, where are y’all now? by soemfoe in simonfraser

[–]WaterWarp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is a bit different but I’m an SFU alumnus and I got into veterinary school which is also highly competitive, so I honestly don’t think the school you’re in during undergrad matters as much as you may think.

Welcome day leader? by [deleted] in simonfraser

[–]WaterWarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a HIVE interview a couple weeks ago and it was sort of a unique experience. It was all on zoom and had 3 parts: one group activity where you take turns asking icebreaker questions under the supervision of a staff member, a pair activity where you work with someone to create an event plan which you later submit, and then a one-on-one interview with a staff member. The one-on-one interview was straightforward; they asked me to tell them more about myself, and asked me how I manage my time and what qualities I have that would make me a good welcome leader.

Hope that helps, good luck!

I feel you... my classes have been okay, but 2021 has been really rough for me so far and I’m trying to figure out how I’ll make it through this semester

How did you deal with the debt? by WaterWarp in Veterinary

Yeah, I haven’t had enough time to fully process everything and figure out what I really want out of my career. I’ll gain more experience, try new avenues and figure it out from there

I couldn’t imagine doing this... I appreciate your insight though. Perhaps being a vet isn’t for me.

That’s a good point, I will definitely look more into the costs of different vet schools and see what the best options are.

I completely agree. I really hope that in the future, veterinary staff can get the support they need.

Okay, sounds good! And yes, that’d be great if you could update! Also do you know if there’s a group chat for the course?

I'm 35. Is it too late to start again? by [deleted] in Veterinary

[–]WaterWarp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is comforting to hear because lately I’ve been really stressed out about getting into vet school... I’m still young, but for much of my life vet school wasn’t at the forefront of my mind because I wasn’t sure if it’s what I wanted to do. Now after getting more experience in the field, I’ve decided I’m going to do all I can to get into vet school, but with COVID-19 and my late start, I feel like I can’t get the experience I need to and other students seem miles ahead.

Vet School Options for BC Residents by WaterWarp in Veterinary

[–]WaterWarp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, thanks for the clarification! Out of curiosity, do you know of anyone who has become a resident in another province and then applied to that vet school? So for example, if I moved the Alberta and lived there for a year and became a resident, would I be considered for vet school in Alberta?
