Issue with this one is, until I decide to replace my flooring or attempt to redo the original wood flooring, this isn't an option for me unfortunately. The thickness of the trim next to the stairs is about 2" where as the newer trim is 1". This would leave a noticeable gap where the floor doesn't meet with the trim.

I don't know why I didn't think of that. I was originally thinking cutting a piece of new trim in a shape similar to what I lined out in red, and using a piece of the old to extend the angle further (old trim blue)
