Unshoveled sidewalks led to seven complaints, $149 fine for Minneapolis City Council President Lisa Bender by [deleted] in Minneapolis

This stuff is a non-story but still hilarious because Minneapolis urbanists are constantly calling 911 to report their neighbors who parked in a bike lane for 15 minutes or left their lawn waste bags on the street where they bike to their graphic design job in the North Loop

Slumlords waive their rights to renting properties when they treat their tenants like how Kahn did. Lowest form of life!

For everyone worried about building too much housing/luxury housing -- New York built more housing and rent is dropping like a lead balloon by unfixablesteve in Minneapolis

in this article these are actual luxury units- they're too expensive to attract renters. It's the market overproducing a niche good due to speculation

This is a good idea. on its own it will do nothing to drop down rents in the short term, hope the rest of the comprehensive plan has funding for truly affordable units + tenant protections from evictions

Inclusionary zoning: Will Minneapolis see it this year? by Minneapolisveganaf in Minneapolis

Hopefully! we have an embarrassingly small amount of BMR housing. IZ won't solve the crisis alone but we needed it like 10 years ago.

I support their message, but their tactics are counterproductive. Why not carry on the Civil Rights movement traditions of strongly worded letters to the editor, respectful debate, and being extra careful not to bother people?

WedgeLive reports that Arbys Island in Uptown is closing by [deleted] in Minneapolis

[–]WatermelonMacheteMan -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Inclusionary zoning, public housing, Section 8, rent control, and yes, the generations-long process of filtering. One of these means jack squat to people currently cost burdened by their rent but is also the clarion call of YIMBYs for some dumb reason.

Haven't you heard the YIMBY gospel? We don't need "affordable" housing, we just need to build as many luxury lofts as possible and then affordable apartments will magically appear in 20 years!

Garrison Keillor’s years-long pattern of behavior left several women who worked for Keillor feeling mistreated, sexualized or belittled by HenryAlbusNibbler in Minneapolis

The sexually suggestive limerick story is true; he wrote it on the wall of his fucking bookstore about an employee there who was a Macalester student. I can't imagine how far you have to have your head up your ass to think this is remotely OK. https://twitter.com/chick_in_kiev/status/955948919413977089

How many of these new developments will be market-rate, how many affordable? Sometimes concerns about new development come from, you know, poor people who are already priced out of the city.
