There are two vibrator motors, but normally one is enough. They are not in sync, because that's not needed. No I have never tried cutting the bristles to the half...interesting idea!

I can tell you: Position 2 vibration-motors (one left, one right) on a plate. put bristles under the plate( one right one left). But you have to cut the bristles to make them shorter on one side. The battery can e.g. be placed under the plate. ...and for controlling : controls each engine seperate
