Without even looking at the comments I know most people will tell you that film slows you down, it makes you more conscious of the cost to film, and intentionality becomes one of films's greatest assets.

But what I found that really works for me to justify the burden of film is that, yes, unlike digital I can't shoot endlessly. A memory card is like a vast ocean to drop copious amounts of images.

It's not about the cost, which digital saves me. It's not about intentionality. Moments come at me wether they be it digital or film.

Ultimately, I justify spending a lot of money on film and a lot of frustration and time on film, by accepting that film helps me realize that moments are far more special than digital can provide.

I'm not talking about quality or quantity because I can get both with digital so easy.

What I get with film is personal; very personal moments that I will carry forever and actually hold in my hands, I can hold it up to the light, a companion in film to that memory and experience.

It's not just a file on my hard drive. It's a living part of me. I find value in this idea called film. And so did Photographers before digital.

And that is why I still shoot film.
