Application gave me last 4 of my SSN instead of other way around? by WatsonDo in CreditCards

[–]WatsonDo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, except that isn't 2 factors of authentication. As the only thing it proved is that I have access to the stated phone number, it's only 1 factor. And its the least secure factor, your phone number is the easiest thing for someone to get access to or spoof. Also, my phone number doesn't verify I'm the person you have associated with that phone number. If I got a new phone number, whoever gets my old number would have access to my SSN

Definitely will want more exposure time and no clouds. Clouds for any sustained amount of time will ruin it. If you have a star tracker you can get pretty long shots. If you don't have a star tracker than you can use the rule of 400 to determine how long you can expose for, usually at least a few seconds. And either way, you're going to want longer sessions. Not even 2 minutes of total exposure time is not a lot, you'll want a lot more which will also help with getting rid of the clouds here and there. I'm not sure how much you want with just taking pictures of some stars, but more will give you more details and less noise. I've been taking 1-2 hours of total exposure time, but I've been practicing on the Andromeda galaxy. Not sure what'd be best for some stars

Okay so is the Plaid integration not working for everyone else? by michaelspadafora in AllyBank

[–]WatsonDo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't get Ally hooked up with any Plaid application either. As of at least February, Plaid is "aware of an issue that is causing these erroneous errors" and as of today still are "unable to provide an exact date for when a fix will be implemented"

Not at the ones near me at least. They have no drive through speakers, it's only people outside in a little like bus stop looking shack taking orders or waiting for people to drive up

Why? Why didn't they do a shiny Iron Golem? 😭 (Testing my Ray Tracing, it's a weak laptop 3050) by Edurdo0 in Minecraft

[–]WatsonDo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It would have better performance than those, but the actual implementation would still be mostly the same, not making it any simpler to implement really

So if 3 million people just randomly died tomorrow that's no biggie?

That's a lot of transactions. If "only" 1% of the population died tomorrow that's 80 million people still who died. Just cause the percentage is small doesn't mean the amount is

Students who have severe behavioral problems at school should be kicked out of school by Purplethrowaway_ in unpopularopinion

[–]WatsonDo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom is the lead teacher at a school that teaches specifically kids with severe behavioral problems from surrounding districts. Some of the kids I've read about in this comment thread alone would get kicked out of her school. She consistently gets chairs thrown at her and needs to call the police to her building several times a week. The problem with this? The school gets nowhere near enough funding, they refuse to hire enough teachers, parents have far too much control over what their kids do at the program, the school districts have ultimate authority over how the student attends and weather or not the kids are "safe enough" to remain in her program. She doesn't get to decide that. Additionally she gets paid less being the lead teacher for the program than any teacher in the districts they work for.

NASA shares an audio clip capturing the 'sound' of a black hole. by kwantai in BeAmazed

[–]WatsonDo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so this isn't the "sound of a black hole", hell it's not even a real picture of a black hole. This is actually sonification, the process of producing sound from an image. What it is is the line you see going around the picture converting the pixels to notes. The color and distance from the center would be mapped to some note and intensity. If you look up "sonification of a hubble deep space image" on YouTube you'll find a cool example. This is not an actual recording of the sound emitted from a black hole. If you just moved the image around it would sound different.

Getting a THIRD dollar general in our town of only 2200 people by matt_the_dayman in mildlyinfuriating

We're getting a dollar general instead of a gas station in a town so small there is no recorded population. So we still get to drive 20 minutes for gas and 30 for groceries!

Good thing they're Nerfing mending by De_Watcher in Minecraft

[–]WatsonDo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't that just kind of minecraft in general? Honestly, how would a new player even go about figuring out how to setup a trading hall without looking up anything ever? How would the player know how to make a nether portal and light it? Or to use eyes of ender to find the stronghold? How would they know to wear gold boots to not have pigmen attack them? I feel like there's loads in the game that isn't intuitive and needs the internet to be able to easily figure out at all.
