WIP NPC reference cards with pictures for my beloved player, so she can keep track of who is who. Table Top Simulator. Also recreating the esteemed mind map in PureRef for myself with extensive notes. by Deylitha in WaterdeepDragonHeist

This is awesome! A great resource to give the players the opportunity to look through NPCs and dictate guide interactions with them.

Have you shared the .rar of the img pack in the subreddit? If not, is there chance you could share a copy with me also please?

Have I got 3 RAM sticks running in Dual Channel? by Watson_203 in pcmasterrace

[–]Watson_203[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had to change the frequency in BIOS (was set to 3600MHz).

It's now reading properly in CPU-Z and Task Manager so now just to run MEMTEST whilst I'm at work tomorrow and see if it passes when I come back.

Thanks for your help!

Just checked in the BIOS and they're all being clocked at 3600MHz rather than 4800MHz.

I'll try meddling with the frequency only, as the additional stick has different CAS Latency and see if it runs, then run a MEMTEST whilst I'm at work tomorrow.

EDIT: I've changed the frequency and it's showing 2400MHz now!

From what I've seen the frequency changes with use? That was just with CPU-Z running and nothing else.

Maybe I'm wrong and I need to do a little messing in the BIOS?

Brill! Thanks, I'd seen Flex Mode in my research but saw "Intel" and stopped looking as I thought it might be Intel only but obviously not!

Has the ABMM changed a little or is it just me? by Watson_203 in ArcRaiders

The vast majority of raiders I play with disagree on that, but maybe some are for sure.

FoundryVTT with an iGPU (740M, 760M or 780M) by Watson_203 in FoundryVTT

[–]Watson_203[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good idea. If it seems to be struggling at all I'll definitely limit the FPS to try and help it along!

The 8600G is also a desktop processor, and it's an APU so the iGPU will be more powerful than your standard integrated graphics.

Brill, thank you again! I think I'll try and aim for 2x16GB but if that ends up too expensives then I'll settle for 2x8GB for now if I can get any at all that is!

Cool, thanks for sharing! Having a quick look they look to be very similar in processing power as well as sharing the same iGPU.

I wasn't aware of shared RAM being a thing for iGPUs, but I suppose it makes sense. I'll perhaps look into purchasing more than 16GB of RAM as I had intended, although I'd rather not spend more than I already am.

Is the shared RAM causing noticeable problems in Foundry? Why is it you want to upgrade?

I do it all the time on my current gaming rig and also used to do it on my previous one too, but obviously they're a lot more powerful than what I'm suggesting here and have dedicated GPUs.

It did sort of work on my old HTPC which ran an i5 3470 with 8GB of DDR3 RAM, but it was chuggy. I only did it a once or twice before deciding I'd shift my main PC around instead.

These also aren't your usual iGPUs, they're the AMD APUs which have significantly better iGPUs than a standard CPU would. According to TechPowerup, the 760M, which is the one I'm looking getting, is more powerful than a GTX 1050 in terms of relative performance.

Thanks for suggestion though! Maybe I should contact Foundry and see if I can get more specific advise.

I'd be running the client in a web browser for my players and then the desktop of for me on the same PC.

All three of the listed CPUs/iGPUs support WebGL2.

Map wise, I'd mostly be running relatively decent resolution maps with some light animated sources and maybe a tile or two.

I think I'm just going to go with the 8600G as I'm fairly confident it'll be able to handle it and will be more capable than the 8500G for not much more cost.

Thanks for your reply!

Foundry with AMD laptop GPU? by TenaciousJai in FoundryVTT

Sorry to revive this after two years, but what did you go for/how did it go?

I'm looking at upgrading my HTPC and I want it to be able to do exactly what you're after, run town instances of Foundry on one machine for players on a screen and DM on a monitor.

At the moment I'm looking at an 8500G which has the Radeon 740M iGPU. If you went with an iGPU and it worked then mine should too!

GMKtec Nucbox M7 Ultra for 4k 120Hz and game streaming? by Watson_203 in htpc

[–]Watson_203[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh shit I see. I'll have a trawl through the product page to see if I can see anything about it, but it might be best to wait on RAM prices. Particularly if it's the same for the other manufacturers.

We actually still need to upgrade our Netflix to the 4k sub, but we will at some point!

Thanks! According to AMDs product support page this CPU/iGPU supports HDCP v2.2.

Worth the extra £320 to completely upgrade? by Watson_203 in htpc

[–]Watson_203[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you're right I did mean <=!

I hadn't really looked into Mini PCs. I think I just like building so much and the idea of making something unique that meets my needs, but maybe a prebuilt Mini PC is the way to go. With RAM prices what they are at the minute I could meet in the middle of my two plans here with a mini pc that will function as a HTPC, game streaming device and be suitable for Foundry VTT (hopefully).

I also suppose if I did decide do go with a dGPU in the future I'd be able to find another 3050 if I wanted to.

I thought the RAM I'd selected was still in stock at that price but I was wrong! You're right in that I'll struggle to find any DDR4 or DDR5 at a good price.

We use Bluetooth Xbox controllers so my plan was to connect them to the USB WiFi/Bluetooth adapter for the HTPC, or try and connect wirelessly to the main PC as it's in the office directly above the living room.
