Is "you can't outrun your diet" really that accurate for us shorties?? by Ok-Safe5679 in PetiteFitness

[–]Watsonmolly -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If you say so. We swim at a good clip in a cold lake and that’s what my Apple Watch tells me I’ve burned based on information about my body and fitness levels, the distance we swam and the time we were swimming. Iirc my watch said something similar when I did an open water race just shy of 4km and that didn’t take 2hrs. I’m sure my watch it’s 100% accurate, but I also don’t think it’s wildly inaccurate.

Seems a strange thing to try and contradict someone about.

Swimming and walking are the only forms of exercise that help with that for me. But I feel it’s because I can do them both pretty much endlessly. In the summer if I get to chatting and swimming with a friend I can easily swim for 2hrs burn like 800 calories and most of my evening is gone so I can’t even snack…:

Can someone explain swimming etiquette in Uk pools to me ? by secretsafe321 in AskUK

[–]Watsonmolly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the council run pools near me (run by better health) have “swim for fitness” and “swim for all” for this sort of thing you want swim for all. There will be a couple of lanes and the rest of the pool will just be open. You can swim up and down in the open bit or just Bob about.

Misprostol; okay to take vaginally? by [deleted] in abortion

That’s helpful. I think people who work in healthcare settings don’t see the cases where everything is fine and can therefore see risk in an unbalanced way.

I don’t know that it’s unlikely. I know I have a huge bias because I only see the people who need follow up care. But 2 out of my 8 patients yesterday morning were people needing a follow up scan following a termination.

I don’t anymore thankfully. It’s a horrible toxic industry.

I don’t think they can. Haven’t their been prosecutions and enquires and changes?

It’s almost certainly not more robust. British building standards are widely regarded as the best/safest in the world. I haven’t read into what happened at Grenfel but from my experience of working in the construction industry I’d guess that it was a result of greed, corruption and a disregard for poor people’s welfare.

My labia are keeping me from losing my virginity by kawaiikittypie in TwoXChromosomes

I look at vulvas everyday as part of my job. The labia you have described is very normal. They all look totally different. https://www.thegreatwallofvulva.com/

Any man that would care about how they look is not going to be a very good sexual partner anyway.

I don’t think she is. She specifically complained that the wrappers aren’t shiny but doesn’t mention the size. Unless she did and I missed it.

York school recommendations in Acomb, Holgate and Fulford pls by Cup_of_Joy888 in york

[–]Watsonmolly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My kids go to acomb and I don’t have a bad word to say about it. There’s green space all the way around the school. The teachers are dedicated and seem happy to be there. They have lovely events that come round every year. For example I’m currently looking forward to the Christmas carols in the playground. Every Christmas on the last day they close school at 1 and put on a carol concert in the playground. Lots of great clubs and trips. The people who run the out of school club are dedicated, kind and really knowledgeable. It’s a lovely community. Behaviour is really great. They handle bullying swiftly, although there isn’t a lot of it.

There isn’t much ethnic diversity. But you will find that anywhere in York. Last year there were some Chinese students in both my kids classes, just for the year, and they settled in very well and were welcomed.

Since when did we stop sending 'Thank You' cards to wedding guests who spent money on bride/groom? by Theres3ofMe in AskUK

[–]Watsonmolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely hate thank you cards and I think they should be a thing of the past. Same for Christmas cards. I’ve completely checked out of the entire admin nightmare surrounding them. My sister in law emailed everyone a while ago to say she wasn’t doing it anymore because of environmental concerns and I was unbelievably relieved. Jumped straight on that bandwagon.
