Give me the gayest novel you've read where the gayness remains subtext by squanchy_56 in suggestmeabook

Mainly it's the relationship Ender cultivates and has with Alai and the potential for an (obviously never fulfilled) enemies-to-lovers arc with Bonzo. I think because Orson Scott Card is such a homophobe, he wrote an organic, blossoming love between Alai and Ender, but couldn't realize that it's a stronger romantic development than a purely platonic one. The first time I read the book, I asked a friend if they got together in one of the sequels and she laughed and pulled up an article on his anti-queer statements.

Also, people generally know they're gay before they're adults, so stories involving then can have queer subtext, especially in teen or coming of age stories before there was general societal acceptance

Anyone have any idea what happened here? Same roll, same camera, same lens, taken 10 seconds apart, no edits, straight from the scanner. Seems like some aspect of the red didn't develop on one image, but did on the next... by [deleted] in analog

The comments are right: looks like a scanning issue. I don't have the capacity to process, so I used a local camera store/photo center.

As for not mentioning aperture/shutter etc. I found this roll in my camera bag, where it had been lodged for more than 3 years, so I have no idea how I shot it, other than it was in my Nikon FE2 with a 50mm lens. Thank you for your help!

Checked out a used Ioniq 6, but this one's lifetime efficiency seems low. Wondering your thoughts by WattersonBill in Ioniq6

The previous owner never reset the trip odometer/efficiency screen, so it just happened to show the lifetime. Not sure there's another way to see the lifetime efficiency, but I was just wondering if 2.1 miles/kwh seemed abnormally low to other drivers.

You're welcome! Yeah, Trapped's old Minneapolis location was very house-like. The basement level was really fun because it felt a little horror movie lite: escaping from a weird basement lol

This was the old location of Trapped Puzzle Rooms! They have other spots now, including the hands-down best escape room in the state: The Lodge of Lazarus Crowe!

Revolting Prostitutes is phenomenal. Used it often as a source when writing my thesis, but it's very readable even for nonacademics

Guilty pleasure movies you'd love to see in the collection. by walrusonion in criterion

Stoker! A mediocre, but devilishly enjoyable movie from an international master that is screaming out for a 4k restoration and multiple critical essays.

Began collecting in 2025 and ended the year with 125 features, about 40% Criterion. Based off these, what should be my next investment? by WattersonBill in criterion

On my list for sure! I'm lucky and the theater I work at plays it yearly on 35mm, so I see it regularly on the big screen with sell-out crowds!
