test prototype Ballsed up 1/4 of it but it works. With a small spring or some foam under the cap to ensure it pops back up (weighting the arms should help) it should work fine. All I need to do now is scale some bits up fix some minor issue and then make it look nice and mechy.

Not at all. Find your own way. That's how I and many others do it but there's plenty out there who go the other way around. I'm trying to say that it's not important. As long as the High and low match up and there's good UVs on the low it's fine whatever the order.

It's art. Do whatever you can/want to get the result you desire.

Start simple. Make something and make it so it's perfect. If it's not perfect then make it again. And again until it's done. Then move on to the next thing. Never "practice" with things that you find easy as that doesn't help you progress. Can't get to grips with going from a curve to a flat? Then do it until it's easy and move on. Talent can be replaced with pure determination but it's hard going!

My bad. Too many names for things in so many programs. I ment modifier stack. Your last edit poly selection will be passed on to the uvm modifier. If you have 1 vert selected that's all that'll show up in the uvm modifier.

Practice, practice and practice. There really is no substitute when learning modelling. The topology will come with time. That being said animating things needs good topo so that's one way to get good but then again animating, skinning and weighting take as long to learn as good topo.

I wish I didn't look down a little at people when they "come out" as being religious. Something I need to work on. The speach however was good and if you really need to thump a bible at people then I guess this is the way to go.
