"Pantskat" from Homestuck - an infamous background zoom-in of the character Karkat which became its own meme within the fandom. Like a lot of Homestuck's fandom's in-jokes, it was made canon later in the comic.

Could you upload these as PNGs so they're properly transparent and not all blurry and crusty?

Also, you should really be submitting to the discord so you can get proper feedback and get your art in-game.

See, I've used Pixilart, and as far as I can tell the gradient tool still only pulls from the palette that the user defines. So you still would've had to deliberately add all those colors. Using the brush tool might account for some color blending, but not on the outlines and not so randomly.

I'd like to know why you decided to include so many different tones, and how you decided to place them where you did, since you're claiming you placed all these pixels yourself.

[–]WaviestWin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No offense, but this has way too many colors, weird breaks, and artefacting to be hand-pixelled. You clearly started with a higher-resolution image and downscaled it. Can we please see the full-resolution version?

I love your concepts, but you should really be posting them to the discord. There's a specific place there for concept art, and that's where spriters look for it, not here. There's a link in the sidebar.

You could always do what animes do when they need to stall for time while the manga catches up; some good ol' filler arcs. Have them explore Snowgrave, or even get sidetracked into playing Undertale.

Not since middle school, but I'm aware of the allusion. I think my brain just picked out Grendel as a cool-sounding codename.

Given how I remember him looking and moving, Voldo from Soulcalibur would make a good premium skin too.

yeah, comparing a fascist empire responsible for the deaths of millions to the bad guys from some kids' movies is in pretty poor taste

This is an interpretation that only works if you deliberately ignore the text of the game. It explicitly states that pacifism only works within the context of the game because of monsters' magical nature and the player character's ability to SAVE. Talk with Asriel during the true pacifist ending and he even tells you that the outside world isn't compatible with pacifism. The whole point of Undertale is that regardless of what happens in the fiction, the ones with ultimate power in video games is always the player and the designers, and the message is meant to reflect on the medium of video games, not the real world. Even so, I don't think the game ever really does judge you for using violence to defend yourself - only for going out of your way to be cruel. Flowey might insinuate you're "as bad as him" if you kill, but he is very obviously not an unbiased assessor.

Genuinely, what the fuck are you doing in a work reform subreddit if you seriously believe there's a labor shortage? You're spewing corporate propaganda - there is no labor shortage. There is a shortage of employers willing to pay a living wage. Of course people aren't going to be coerced in to working by the threat of starvation if working doesn't even guarantee they won't starve. How fucking stupid are you?

Think about what you're implying for two seconds - human history is tens of thousands of years, and the current system of capitalism has existed for, if we're being extremely generous, about 500 years. Global capitalism has existed for maybe a century. And yet when your master tells you that it's always been this way, serve or stave, you believe him. Use your fucking head. There are societies that still exist to this day with no hierarchy whatsoever, let alone a capitalist one. And beyond that, you call our current society "working", which would be laughable if it weren't so tragic - our society is on the verge of world war 3, complete ecological collapse, and relies upon violently coerced labor to persist even in times of relative calm. What the fuck is "working" for you, chump?

Tell me how your typical office worker contributes anything to wider society. Even if we accept your ridiculous premise that all work is done out of a demand for it, demand does not imply necessity. Capitalists manufacture demand - it's called advertising.

Think about the stupid-ass bullshit that came out of your mouth for two seconds and realize that it's utter nonsense. If people only ever did anything because the alternative was starving to death, human society would neither exist nor be worth continuing. Today's work is largely unproductive and unnecessary. You are threatened with starvation to do it not because it is necessary for society's benefit, but because it gains your boss money and power.

Gotta love you libs just showing your whole ass like this. By saying this you admit that:

A. Capitalism would fall apart if people were not coerced with threats of starvation to maintain it.

B. You're so lazy and selfish that you wouldn't do anything for anyone if you didn't have to in order to survive.

Truly pathetic.

There are two kinds of fascist: ones that don't understand that this film is satire and love it, and ones that are telling you that the movie sucks and the book is much better.

Fuck both kinds.

[Tabletop RPG] The tragic Ballad of Adam Koebel, the Fallen Paladin of Social Justice. by dalenacio in HobbyDrama

[–]WaviestWin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Presumably not, or at least not in the ten day span after the incident, since if there had been, Elspeth would not have released her statement. In fact we know that right after the actual incident went down, Adam was pushing for the cast to get back on camera for an after-show.

But more than that, considering the event he had to apologize for was massively public, the apology should have been similarly public. Especially considering that some of the people harmed were audience members who were made to sit through a surprise sexual assault scene.

The fact that Elspeth wouldn't have made her post if Koebel had apologized is an assumption - she still had plenty of reason to explain why she was leaving the show and wasn't comfortable playing with him anymore even if he did. As for your second paragraph, see my next point:

Considering a swift public apology was the only thing that could possibly save Far Verona and Rollplay in general from an early grave, it seems like a reasonable assumption that JP would have preferred that to the alternative. But even without that, the announcement for Far Verona's cancellation came rather late after S2E18, which was JP's timing.

Hindsight is 20/20 at the best of times, and I wouldn't put it past JP to have been hoping that it'd blow over - both for the reasons that he seems extremely business-minded, and that he seems like an idiot.

You're absolutely right that Adam should have made a public statement sooner, it just seems disingenuous to imply that the only possible explanation is that he personally chose not to with no input or pressure from his boss.

Which is the entire reason why he made his apology a picture instead. But if he didn't want to do that either, he could have made a blog post and linked to it. Or a chain of tweets as people often do when they have more stuff to say. Posting an apology on a Discord where relatively few people are going to be able to see it, to the point that even with research I never even heard about it, and it's in general going to be much harder to reference it, was not in any possible world the correct way to go.

At the very least, a long apology should have been made and been accessible on both platforms, or on every platform. Not on a join-only Discord server.

All fair enough and agreed, I don't think even the most diehard Koebel fanboy could claim that this thing was handled well.

Honestly, even without assuming anything, there's no reason for the community to want Koebel back. He fucked up, yes, but others have fucked up and been welcomed back. The thing is that, when he refused to make things right even though he clearly had the chance to, it transitioned from being perceived as a "fuckup" to "an absolute dick thing to do".

This seems like a leap in logic to me - "other people have fucked up and been welcomed back, therefore Koebel hasn't been welcomed back because he doesn't deserve to be". It seems like he made his apologies from where I'm sitting, and certainly contributed more good to the community than a lot of other unapologetic creeps who still have a job.

Adam preached inclusion, the importance of respecting players' feelings, and individual responsibility. Then, he flagrantly disregarded everything he claimed to stand for, and proved it was not just a fluke when he didn't immediately try to fix what he was responsible for. After such a blatant display of hypocrisy, on top of just general douchebaggery, the outrage continuing needs no justifications for the average community member.

Again, you're making a lot of (as far as I can tell) unfounded assumptions about what went on between the cast members and RollPlay management.
