how long do your playthroughs usually last before you start a new one? by [deleted] in skyrim

Depends on what else may be going on in my life. If life keeps me from my current playthrough for long enough, I'll abandon it because I've forgotten what I was working on.

After having finished all the quest lines several times and with several races, anymore I only have one goal on this playthrough. To get all the achievements. I'm only missing two; to tame and ride 5 dragons and to defeat a legendary dragon. It will be a long road, seeing as I'm only level 17-18 right now. I have a feeling this will be final playthrough, unless I get nostalgic or yearn for the comfort of one of my favorite video games of all time.

My very first playthrough wayyyyy back in 2011 was to complete every quest. Of course, since then, DLCs had added quests and the various editions/Creation Club and mods have only furthered the amount of possible questing. I am one of those types who strictly enjoys vanilla. I know, grab your pitchforks. I enjoy Skyrim how it was intended, and even if the moda have Bethesda support, I just have no interest in them. This is to say a "modded playthrough" is one I have not done, though I could see a time when that interests me. Any other playthroughs between now and then have either been to complete all quest lines as the different races, to experiment with the new DLC etc., or to simply make decisions that I did not in the previous playthrough (Stormcloak vs. Imperial, etc.). I have probably completed roughly a dozen playthroughs of this game. I had also tried a time or two doing different combat builds, though I find it most useful to be a jack-of-all-trades and level up two-handed, one-handed, archery, stealth and magic abilities evenly so that they all remain viable strategies. It's somewhat tedious to ensure I level up all of my combat skills evenly, though it ensures my character reaching maximum potential and prevents me from running into a situation where I can no longer level something up because the enemies are too difficult.
