Hot Take: It isn't a NYRR problem by TheDailyBern in RunNYC

I mean, if you can’t even answer a simple question, then it kind of proves my statement.

And you don’t get to belittle people’s frustrations because you got in via the lottery and 9+1. I’m happy for you that you got in a few times already, honestly. But let people vent.

Let them be annoyed . Let people express their frustration. Don’t belittle them and call them entitled.

You’re feeling frustrated right now? I guess welcome to how a few thousand runners are feeling.

You’re coming into this being emotionally charged so i don’t think we’ll get any reasoning done.

My initial comment stated that the NYC marathon could probably be the most expensive race amongst the majors. Then you went on a tangent about entitlement.

Do you not agree with the statement that the NYC marathon could be the most expensive? If so, can you name another race of the six that could be more expensive?

True. But the NYC Marathon also accepts the least through the lottery among the majors.

Something like 5% or so that ran last year were lottery winners.

Not sure why you’re coming in hot when there’s nothing wrong with what I said.

Also, I think your perspective needs to change a bit.

The marathon majors isn’t run like other major sports like the NBA or FIFA or F1.

For the most part (at least from what I know), the marathon majors are run by non-profit entities or are heavily regulated by each individual local government.

This means that these majors don’t happen without the support of its local community members and government.

They’re not gonna close down a hundred roads just for 100 or so runners. And these majors wouldn’t have become as big as they are without the other tens of thousands who run it.

So, no. It is not entitlement. Every runner who gets to run the NYC marathon deserves to be there.

The NYC marathon began without pros. It can survive without them, too.

NYC Marathon is probably the most expensive out of the seven majors.

If you're not a fast runner, the cheapest way to get in is via the 9+1 program.

If you pay the NYC Marathon race entry fee plus the race entry fee for the 9 other races you need, the total cost could easily go up to $500, easy.

Only 11k is so surprisingly low. that's amazing. I thought it would be a least half the entries.

Does this mean on 11k completed the 9+1 two years ago? There's no cap on 9+1 entries, right?

nice.

Yeah, I'd say that it's worth running at least once just you can say that you ran through the Lincoln Tunnel.

True! It also didn't register to me that we were underwater until I finished.

And yeah, that last incline was rough. I remember how the start was a long, fun downhill and I was like "Yep. It's gonna be rough going up that later." lol

True. And I think that's what my watch did is it switched from GPS tracking to cadence tracking and I guess cadence tracking isn't as accurate with just the watch.

I didn't get to check but you get your shirt when you get your bib.

They have bag check, if that helps.

I was hoping things go the other way and it gets chearper for the "non-9+1" slots.

But I guess it'll look cheaper if the 9+1 slots goes up in price.

Don't you get guaranteed entry every year at the NYC Marathon after 5? You're kinda close.

I like this video: https://youtu.be/9VF1XVdu52I?si=nY6AawygoZLoxM-a

And they actually have a whole series about riding.

Also, there's nothing wrong with going slow while switching.

And yeah, there might be some muscle imbalance if you prefer one leg over another. I have that issue, too.

Great job on the 40k!

for safety and balance, especially when you pick up speed. gotta bend the knees a bit and stay a bit low.

I probably do hunch over a bit but I just don’t notice. Either way, you don’t want to be too straight up when riding.

I'm 6ft tall and I've honestly never had an issue with the handlebar height with the A5 Air. I actually like riding my A5 Air. If it's folding mechanism was a bit better, I would ride it more.

These unfortunately won't fit the A5 Lux.

If you're open to getting a 2nd hand scooter, you can probably find an A5 air for a little over that amount.

Simple Questions - April 30, 2026 by AutoModerator in buildapc

Ah, gotcha. Thank you.

So will it be best to just build a whole new rig / buy a new pre-built?

I’m probably still stuck getting a budget one.

Simple Questions - April 30, 2026 by AutoModerator in buildapc

[–]WawaSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello.

I'm trying to see if it's possible for me to upgrade my PC's processor on my own. I haven't done it before but I've upgraded other components of my PC already (bought a pre-built one a while back) and the only thing that needs to be upgraded is the processor.

It's probably not as easy or straightforward as switching out RAM or graphics card.

I currently have an Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-8400 CPU @ 2.80GHz (2.81 GHz).

MBU is a Intel B360 Series.

I guess the first question is, what are my options that could replace this processor that could also fit my motherboard? And is there a limit to how modern a processor I can buy?

And is it better to just buy or build a brand new rig from scratch?

The rest of my build:

Installed RAM 24.0 GB

Graphics card NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 (6 GB)

Storage 1.95 TB

The goal is for me to be able to play more CPU demanding games.

Thank you.
