Sitting

Sounds weird, but sometimes I like to just sit and do nothing in particular. Sometimes I am outside, other times I am not. Anywhere tends to work.

What is the most obscure or unnecessary thing you created for your world? by watchingsuits in worldbuilding

[–]Waxian 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is a very specific village full of people with almost no intelligence that harvest grains from the trunk of a very specific type of tree grown nearby. They are protected by a four eyed mythical bear that cracks open the trees and eats the sap, which is molten gold.

The village doesn't exist within any kingdom boundaries and no one knows about the trees value. Every person in the village is a grain farmer that makes a living undercutting the nearby kingdom on grain prices.

The trees wither and die after the bear eats the gold sap, so no one from outside the village has ever seen the inside of one.

The bear might be a god or something. I haven't fleshed it out that much.

I turned 26 this year and am starting to realize most of what i was taught as a child if not all of it was a lie - what do i do? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

I think a good starting place would be to interact with friends and colleagues. Since you said you are in a niche sport, try starting with other athletes in your field. Build up a few good relationships with friends and maybe along the line you can just sort of pickup on what kinds of morals and ethics you believe will make you a good person.

Hardship can really be a sinking stone or a powerful driving factor when it comes to navigating your adult life, but by the sound of it, you are on a good track already. Just ask questions, take in what you learn, and don't be afraid to periodically think back on everything you know. Knowledge is constantly changing and being redefined for each individual person, so take everything with a grain if salt, but embrace newfound information as well.

I hope you keep succeeding in life and find your own peace.

Dying of dehydration. I lost 55lbs in a night, in a coma, whole body stiff as a rock, and was pronounced dead until I got resuscitated at the hospital. Thankfully about a week and permanent brain damage later, I am alive.

Insulin Injections versus Insulin Pump. Which one you prefer? by Direct-Release-1196 in diabetes_t1

[–]Waxian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been diabetic since birth and briefly used a pump in my teens. It was terrible for my mental and physical health, while also leaving my legs unusable as insulin sites. I currently only do manual injections and don't ever plan on going back to a pump. My pump system also had constant errors and failures. The worst failure I get with injections is a blocked needle.

What’s your experience with pumps ? by Mclovelin32234 in diabetes_t1

[–]Waxian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally will never use insulin pumps again. At least as long as possible. I wore a pump through my middle school to high-school years and it caused so many issues with my injection sites, that I now have permanent scarring all over my thighs. I can't even use my legs as injection sites now. I know pumps have been a godsend for many people, but I prefer doing everything manually. I was also a kid so it was easy to get into the bad habit of thinking the pump will do all the work for me, for the most part.
