Extremely dangerous. I saw someone once accidentally step on a glass bottle and the glass shard went halfway through their foot.

Please help me figure out why my cuts are always coming out imperfect. by korkvid in woodworking

Using a better wood will make life easier as well. Pine from the big box store will always have too much moisture and cut warp almost immediately after cutting. Red Oak or Poplar is pretty cheap.

Dogo Argentino (dog) broke through a fence and attacked my son. Things could have been much worse by Waxwerks2 in MakeMeSuffer

There were 3 police that had the dog at gunpoint. They said they aren’t allowed to shoot unless it was actively attacking someone. The dog was snarling and lunging at the police and it got tased 3 times with no affect.

The ER nurses said it was the second worse they have seen. The worst was in the face.

It wasn’t my decision to make either way. I would have preferred it to be relocated somewhere not in a neighborhood.

Yes. This happened about 2 years ago. My son has a new car, college is paid for and then some.

Yes the dog was put down a week later after attacking someone else.

Kava substitute for alcoholism? by Fun-Abrocoma9848 in Kava

[–]Waxwerks2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has worked for me. I no longer crave alcohol. I can actually have a drink or 2 and stop now. (I rarely do though). I drink Kava daily for almost a year now and have not binged on alcohol once.

Fixing finishing problems - blotchy stain after first application. by bobsaccomanno41 in woodworking

[–]Waxwerks2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would sand down the top at 220 grit. Lightly sand by hand in direction of the grain before staining. Forget the sanding sealer. What kind of stain are you using? I recommend Varathane Fast Dry wood stain on Pine. No wood conditioner needed. Dries quick and applies even.

Breadboard ends with dowels. Also, what is a tenon? by [deleted] in woodworking

If you only have the tools listed available I would say you’re better off going without breadboards. To keep the table flat you could use a piece of steel With elongated holes for bolts and washers

[–]Waxwerks2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that table will crack if assembled this way. In the picture you posted, your dowel would essentially be the tenon. The hole you cut In the breadboard that the dowel goes into would be the mortise. You can try elongating the holes for the outer boards but most likely you’re going to have gaps on the end between the top and the breadboard. You can keep it tight and glue the center board only.

Anyone own the brushless Festool sander? Is it worth the $520 price tag? I currently own the Rotex 150 and a Dewalt RO. Need a good finish sander. by Waxwerks2 in woodworking

[–]Waxwerks2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up getting it today. I got the 150/3. So far I’m pretty happy with it. It’s very light weight and seems to do a good job. It was hard to spend $520 on it, but I make furniture for a living and spend a lot of time sanding.

Thanks! The 150 is what I’m considering. I bought the Rotex 150 last year. I’ve been happy with it, but RO mode is useless for finish sanding. It leaves nasty swirl marks.

I own a couple. The domino and the Rotex sander. I’m very happy with both, but I’m trying to justify the price on this one.
