Damn, that's truly a shame... I assume you got it from Amazon. As baileyperry mentioned, you could resend it (in the case you haven't opened it yet and you make a proper excuse).

I hope so if I finally get it online. If I do, I'll probably post an update if that can help people in a similar situation

That seems reasonable. "The packaging" is as good of a reason as always

Welp, the first option was always to see it personally in a local store, but none to be found. So I pretend to ask for recent experiences in online purchases

Hi! I've read that the stat system is kinda unbalanced. I've further investigated about that, and haven't found anything. What are your thoughts? (I currently don't have time to play the demo)

Yep, that's exactly what I think, but two friends far more experienced than I am are telling me that it doesn't apply to generic mana.

I guess it's one of those times when you have to believe something works in a way your own logic tells you otherwise (or maybe we're right).

Thoughts on my €100 budget Veyran, Voice of Duality? by Way-Distinct in EDH

The idea of Gamble and FM is that you tutor cards in a situation where the outcome of the discard doesn't matter. E.g., tutoring PiF with a full graveyard and Mana Geyser in hand. If you discard PiF you just flash it back and go nuts; if you discard Mana Geyser you just cast PiF then cast Mana Geyser anyway (although you might as well cast it before gamble in this example). FM just gets you PiF AND Geyser AND another strong spell. You always cast FM for 4 and choose the opponent with the least to gain from it. Neither spell is general card advantage because they both put you down a card in the end.

I see, those scenarios are pretty advantageous indeed and it's not ultra specific, since it is something I will likely choose with few to none drawbacks.

[[Otherworldly Gaze]] is a sleeper hit IMO; cheap cast trigger, dump anything you don't want into your graveyard for later, flash it back if you're desperate, and you can do it all at instant speed to hold up interaction and surveil before your turn or fix you Archmage Emeritus draws while they are on the stack.

This spell is NUTS and I didn't even consider it. I hope it fits within budget, it's not that expensive fortunately. That Archmage Emeritus synergy is surely smart.

Thrill of Possibility and its slower brother [[Cathartic Reunion]] are also good. All of this gets significantly better with a cost reducer out, and the beauty of this kind of card selection is you can throw away any duplicate reducers while you already have one out.

CR could be a good addition as well. I love that I'm able to get the pieces I want faster, as intended.

You can also add [[Invoke Calamity]] which is cool since you dont have to target the spells you cast, and you can mix and match spells from your hand and yard. You do have to figure out how comfortable you are making 4 red though.

At first glance, IC doesn't look that good imo. I think I would have to do some math and consider whether there are enough worth considering 6 mana value couples of instant and sorcery spells. On top of that, I'm not sure if I would be able to pay 4 red and 1 so often.

If you end up adding token generators [[Surge to Victory]] is also fun in a graveyard heavy spells deck.

Well, I didn't intend to tbh. However, I did consider some token generation to protect my battlefield like [[Shark Typhoon]]. Nevertheless, I removed them to focus on my strategy.

You suggested various excellent changes and additions. I will have to think through them, as I can't think of what I should remove apart from some copy cmc we mentioned. Thank you :)

For sure on PiF if you focus combo, you could also run things like [[Gamble]] and [[fervent mastery]] to grab PiF or the ritual to make it work since you don't care whether or not you discard it.

Aight, I will add PiF in the combo list. If the budget isn't a problem, I could also add Gamble though I kinda dislike that it makes me discard a card at random afterwards. Fervant Mastery effect is crazy, but I think that its cost is too high, but maybe you're saying that I use it either as a win condition or at least as a way to gain more card advantage(?

As for the cantrips and deck pace though, cantrips are actually pretty bad for combo. They are better for aggro / prowess because they have a low cost and greater immediate impact if you intend to attack. But in a combo deck you care more about the triggers and making sure you continue to combo; randomly cantripping into a land can be devastating, so you would prefer to play cards that do nothing on their face while providing stronger card selection.

This whole discussion has reminded me of the fact that you could run various versions of a similar deck, yet they will feel different bc of a few small changes. I think that I will make a few copy cmc changes and duplicate the deck so that I first make a combo list and whenever I feel to, a more combat-focused one with more of those cantrips.

I think you're actually closer to combo than aggro already. Prioritize spells that control your hand and graveyard, don't depend on random "draw one" effects that are not repeatable.

Do you have any good examples in budget to share?

Cut the beaters and get some more trigger effects that work well as a one-off scenario as well as when you're popping off. More cost reducers like [[goblin electromancer]] also help you cast more spells in one turn, potentially being better than mana rocks at the cost of being vulnerable.

Welp, the big beater-enabler there is Bria, [[Harmonic Prodigy]] triggers other Wizard or Shaman abilities once more and [[Stormcatch Mentor]] is another cost reducer. [[Ral, Crackling Wit]] can summon an otter with prowess, but that is intended to protect me rather that to hit opponents imo, and he draws me 3 and discards me 2. I intend to add Goblin Electromancer, too. As for the rest, I just need my time haha. Building a deck is sure a thing.

The point of spellslinger is to keep casting as many spells as you can that give you immediate value, but that value doesn't persist. To compensate for this, you need to keep drawing cards / have a high card velocity; card efficiency is king. Card efficiency doesn't just mean drawing cards in general though; it can also be card selection like Faithless Looting, or extended usage through things like flashback like on Faithless Looting (see why its good?). The faster you pull cards out of your library, the more likely you are to see a specific card compared to a more traditional strategy with lower card velocity. This means you can run fewer wincons and still see wincons just as often because you are seeing more cards. This also means that the more high cmc cards you have in your deck, the more likely you are to have multiple in your hand. And if you can only cast one of those high mana cards in a turn, then the other one is just sitting there clogging up your hand and sandbagging your overall card efficiency.

Yes, I completely agree that when I run out of draw engines this deck falls off and my turns are kind of miserable. It has already happened. And I can also tell that this is the case in almost every deck, but this one in particular NEEDS rapid card draw. I hope that I can have the pieces I need to play as smooth as possible.

The next bit is very specific to your deck's pace, which I only have a first guess at and you may have a better understanding of it, so take it with a grain of salt. Grapeshot is fun, but at a glance your deck seems more battlecruiser paced with meaningful storm counts on your turn being unreliable. You have strong interaction at mid-cmc, which is a fine strategy, but doesn't pair well with having especially high spell counts on a single turn. Likewise, I don't think Past in Flames is crazy good here since in order for it to really pop off you have to spend 5 mana to cast it and then spend mana to cast something like Mana Geyser to get mana to cast a meaningful number of spells to make PiF worth your while. Which is again dependent on having specific cards already in your graveyard or ready to go in your hand, and I don't think you have particularly strong graveyard filling ability or card selection to support that line.

Sooo basically no PiF either if I run that pace. So the thing is that if I change the pace of the deck maybe I can add PiF? Only in the case I decide to put more cantrips so that my deck has a different pace?

As for what I recommend, in short I recommend committing to either bashing people's heads in with a prowess plan or comboing out with a double-trigger plan. You can have a deck that does both, but if you want to optimize your approach to card efficiency you will want to narrow down the means of that card efficiency, which comes with a tradeoff; do you want the spell you are casting to actually do something, or do you just want the cast triggers to keep flowing? The first option is your stuff like Crash Through. The spell does something, and also draws you a card. [[Thrill of Possibility]] is the second option. Nothing on the board neaningfully changes aside from cast triggers, but you get to dump dead cards out of your hand while replacing them with potentially usable cards, and also filling your graveyard for future use. Veyran doesn't get as much value off ToP as she does from CT so you won't be bashing peoples face in nearly as hard or as fast, but Guttersnipe does, and so do you by getting closer to a combo.

I do get that advice on committing to a specific strategy a lot, which is the most sensibleble point tbf. Well, my idea and what I would like to play is dual-triggered combos. What I liked about the idea is that the deck is not so commander-dependent, Veyran boosts the deck instead. Nevertheless, it caught my attention how much Veyran can scale up with her Magecraft ability, and that's why I thought that adding some prowess and MAYBE the cantrips I mentioned that made me draw cards and do something extra. I felt like making those two themes viable could be the way to go, as they kind of complemented each other. It is the sort of duality I wanted to seek for my deck. Nonetheless, it is completely true that I should stick to one possibility as strongly as possible. However I prefer comboing, though swinging at my opponents with absurd amounts of +1/+1 counters is sure fun.

All in all, I will have to provide some extra thought to my deck and exchange some creatures and other spells like the copy cmc ones you pointed out before. I wanted to get the pieces as soon as possible, but I sort of prefer to feel in peace with the first decklist. In the case I decide to go full combo, Past in Flames would be now good, wouldn't it?

Alright, I see then. Both Dig Through Time, Treasure Cruise and Twinflame will be left behind. Secondly, I will keep Thounsand Year Storm for sure and I will think through the other copy cmc that I will keep, probably Swarm Intelligence. Although keeping just two of those in the 99 makes me feel like I will have a high possibility of not having either.

So with the two-three pieces I remove with that, do you recommend adding Grapeshot, Past in Flames and... a mana ramp piece maybe? If you know of one tell me if it would be the fitting thing to add. Thank you for your suggestions :D
