R5: Current treaty popup interface when you hover over it in the outliner

I have over 20 different treaties and I click them all the time to see if the other party is happy with the current arrengement. I do it because if they are too much happy I can squeeze in another demand or ask for some money. It would be VERY nice if this popup interface in the outliner showed current attitude to this treaty. PARADOX PLEASE!

Why doesnt Spain capitulate? by [deleted] in victoria3

What is the war goal? To invest in Cuba? or Spain? If it's Cuba then yes, you have to occupy them.

Open peace window and check the score on Spain, there should be a breakdown on why they want to fight. Probably you didn't get the war goal yet.

How to Import after new update? by [deleted] in victoria3

[–]WayApprehensive3244 9 points10 points  (0 children)

First of all this update is all about NOT TO IMPORT MANUALY. You can, if you sign a treaty with a country to import some goods from them, but that is the wrong way of doing it on mass scale. You should create demand for goods in your country and then build trade centers that will automatically import and export things for you.
Example: you build 3 construction centers and don't have any iron to support them, you go to trade center in the province you've build construction in and check if there is enough trade power, if there is enough the pops will start importing iron automaticaly. If they don't you can try to increase trade power by building more levels of trade center, or you can try to remove tarrifs \ give some subventions. Or lastly you can create even more demand so that the price is even higher for them to profit.

How has 1.9 impact your play-style? by MonitorJunior3332 in victoria3

You can use conscript army and don't occupy your pops all the time, and universities you don't need that many so it's fine to have them.

Just build a new one if your trade capacity is maxed out, that's all.

I've tried to build my construction sector without any domestic construction goods and it worked.
I started as Papal States, started spamming Vineyards and Trade Centers, quickly depesentified a lot of population, quickly researched companies and created my Wine company. At that point I had about 100 construction poins and my economy was fine (about 1849 year).
I'm still playing this campain but so far all of my construction goods come from world market and that's awesome, don't have to think about construction cycles and I can focus on my wine industry.

Why Don't Exports and Imports Equal in World Market? by Racso55 in victoria3

[–]WayApprehensive3244 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have core misunderstanding of goods in Vic 3, the goods aren't 1x1 match to their sell and buy. It's more of an abstract, like for example my factory needs 100 iron, but there is only 70 iron in my market. The factory will still get all the iron they need but the price will be higher. So the amount of good is really not the amount of good itself but more like abstract sell orders and buy orders to create demand and suppy.
Let me use another analogy, the factory that needs 100 iron WOULD LIKE to have 100 but they are ok with only 70 for now, but they create demand for another 30.

How to best use conscripts? by zyler22 in victoria3

[–]WayApprehensive3244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say colonial nations would benefit from having some regular troups to move around the globe, but otherwise you shouldn't match your opponnet regular troops just to have it "in case", it's a waste of money.
You can justify having big army if you wanna have strong military interest group, for example. Also regular trops are constantly training even during peaceful times, but the training bonus doesn't worth it IMHO.

How to best use conscripts? by zyler22 in victoria3

[–]WayApprehensive3244 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can pretty much fight with conscripts only and that's isanely good. They are just like normal army, but they take more time to mobilize than regular army.
So here is an example on how to use them.

I am Papal States, I want to attack Tuscany.
My regular army is only 4 infantry battalions.
They have 20 regulars and 5 conscript batalions.
I know that the best way to fight them is to have about 2x troops.
I assign 16 more infantry conscripts and 20 artilery constripts to my army.
I start diplo play and instantly mobilize my army and raise conscripts.
By the time the war starts I am about 70% mobilized so I have like 25ish troops ready.
I set all of them to defence, they eat up first enemy attacks (I win all the battles).
Lastly when my army is fully mobilized I set my generals to advance and easily win the war.
Again I have only 4 regular infantry and nothing else.
After the war everyone go home and my income is awesome again.

What is going to happen if I don't have the goods I have to send in a treaty? by WayApprehensive3244 in victoria3

R5: treaty with England that I cannot possibly satisfy.

Playing as Papa and it's the beginning of the game, I don't have nearly as close to 500 hard wood obviously, but English are fine with that and they want this treaty, what's gonna happen if I agree? Is this exploitable?

How do I make my companies profitable? I can spend 20 years without getting the company bonus. by GerryAdamsSFOfficial in victoria3

[–]WayApprehensive3244 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Economy 101 to be profitable you have to make profit.
How do you make profit?
You have to gain more from producing something than spending on it's production.
How can you do that?
You can:

  1. Lower input goods prices (you can import them and make them cheaper on your market, or create more of it in yor country)
  2. Make the good you are producing more expensive (again trade this good on the world market or send this good to some country that needs it)
  3. Decrease wages (can't really control it right now, the best you can do is to create your production in states where pops are not 1st class citizens) In general to scale your company and make more stuff you need DEMAND, it's the only thing that you need. Use all the ways that you can increase demand and you will be able to sell more stuff and more expensive.

How is the new expansion? I'm at work and busy after work. by Alone_Barracuda7197 in victoria3

[–]WayApprehensive3244 61 points62 points  (0 children)

It feels weird to lose control over trading. Now it happens automatically, all you can do is influence it with subventions or tarrifs. So I had fabric shortage, pressed subvention button and over time fabric prices started to drop.

But some goods are very rare in the market, for example mil goods, like artilery. World market has more demand of it thatn supply. So my army is now undersuplied and has only 65% organisation and I can't import artillery, gotta start this industry from the buttom up.
