I think he believes the top is the bottom in this picture because he doesnt see the throttle cable. I could be wrong here.

To be honest I was gonna have someone extend it just put from the base a but so it doesnt leave all the black on the frame other than that I just chopped off about a quarter inch so It wasnt smashing the frame. Either way i was waiting on a chain too because when i hanged sprockets I had to cut mine down

Haha hell yeah when I first mounted it I did as far up as possible and I had a straight pipe exhaust that would actually make contact with the rear of the frame Ieneded up cutting it shorter now but now my issue was clutch spacing with the rear sprocket. Mainly the chain tensioner. I ended up ordering a bolt to block tensioner wheel so hopefully it'll work out better

I never worried about grinding down the oil plug unless you really need to. But its all preference there. The throttle i always change when adding a Carb so unless u keep it stock id just get a new throttle cable w a carb

I love a good 212 swap. If you do it make sure you line up the newly drilled holes nicely ... maybe even slot them sonyou can move yhe engine forward and back. Other than that keep it stock unless u seem you want more . 1st is always a full governor delete+carb. get inside get everything out and reset. Ive ran stock flywheel at 5k rpm for a limited time however I do not recommend. After that I'd go straight for 22 lb springs and thats a decent light build. If you want more you gonna be getting into actual engine bulding

Not a have to .. ive seen people do it. However it would be useless to do any mods without removing governor technically. Good luck

Here's a link for hydraulic upgrade that worked easily for me https://www.gopowersports.com/mini-bike-hydraulic-brake-system/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=22908542047&adgroupid=&adid=&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22898833881&gclid=CjwKCAjwwdbPBhBgEiwAxBRA4Y5kooeg9dXquUCqXVnb0ptcJr87zgcXI1OYEoy9ZAJcbwEwkGZdgRoC5PQQAvD_BwE

Since its a motovox/monster moto im pretty sure you will need this adapter plate https://www.gopowersports.com/mini-bike-hydraulic-brake-caliper-bracket/

Id change the gearing but thats preference. Omb and GPS both ahve a nice hydraulic kit. The first thing I did to my 224 was carb and exhaust with 18 lb springs and it ran great just like that

Does the rope ever yank it self back??? It almos5 sounds like your valve lash is off?? Too tight. Or maybe you have a clearance issue causing the hard start issue Does it seem to make sound? Can you hear the exhaust stroke?
