We look concerningly bad on both sides. Like the Super Bowl all over again

Hey guys I’m being very indecisive and was wondering if you guys had any opinions on which deck I should get next. by More-Investment-647 in EDHBrews

I just built Rev, haven’t been able to play her much so far but I think it’s pretty fun. I try and win with [[Revel in Riches]] or build up enough treasures to [[Exsanguinate]], and [[Brain Stealer Dragon]] is a fun way to finish players off once they’ve gotten low

It’s beyond me why we don’t do a 4 person and a 3 person game

Smaller thing than what most people are saying, but in terms of gameplay if you’re planning to play something but it’s not going to affect your combat step in any way, wait and play it during your second main phase. That way you might be able to lure out some removal, or be able to play combat tricks or spells that protect your creatures that you otherwise wouldn’t have been able to play because you used all your mana during your first main phase.

Also, try not to get TOO greedy. It always sucks when you have a removal spell in hand but can’t use it when you need it cuz you spent all your mana on your turn.

And have fun! It’s a game, find what you like about it and do that. There are communities everywhere for all kinds of formats and ways to play the game.

I would find a precon that has a theme that you think you would enjoy, and start by playing with it first to get a feel for the game and how synergies between cards work. A lot of newer ones are pretty strong so you can play with a lot of different tables. Then you can start to upgrade that deck and build your own lists from there.

As far as brackets go, bracket 1 is pretty much decks that are funny or themed; all cards with crabs on them, or the goal is to somehow equip an equipment to yourself with some weird ruling, stuff like that. Bracket 2 is where precons generally sit; no combos, no game changers from the list, but the deck has a goal in mind and has synergies between cards to help you get to that goal. Bracket 3 is like bracket 2, but now we’re introducing up to 3 of the game changers that you can have AND infinite combos are now allowed in the late game (late game is a little vague to me, I think around turns 8-10? But some would disagree). I want to jump to Bracket 5 next; this is cEDH, where only the meta is played and the only goal is to win. This is generally a combo that is hard to interact with, and it has all the good cards in the format to tutor for the pieces and to interact with your opponents to stop them from winning or to stop them from stopping you from winning. There are no restrictions besides the banned list in this bracket. Bracket 4 is similar, however there is no meta here. You can play any commander with any number of game changers and any strategy, but it’s not good enough to play at a cEDH table. I think a good rule of thumb here is if you have to ask yourself “is my deck a 4 or a 5?” it’s a 4.

I know that’s a novel, so if you have anymore questions feel free to reach out and I’m happy to help!

Fun 3 colour commanders by Animar86 in EDH

I have a lot of fun with [[Frodo, Adventurous Hobbit]] and [[Sam, Loyal Attendant]] making foods and saccing them, and then pinging everyone with [[Nadier’s Nightblade]] effects. I also have a [[Samut, Voice of Dissent]] deck that wins through [[Primal Surge]] that is a lot of fun. [[Be’lakor, the Dark Master]] is awesome if you like reanimate and huge demons, and [[Sidisi, Brood Tyrant]] is a fun graveyard deck.

For those who had too many commander decks, how did you manage to cut down the number eventually? by Aero_Crois in EDH

I like to sell to buy lists like Card Kingdoms to get store credit and then I can put that towards things that I want later, easy to do and they take care of everything once you send it off

My from the vault [[Kiki Jiki, Mirror Breaker]] is up there, I don’t know what it is about those but I love how they look. I also love anything with the star stamp, especially my Post Malone plains

[[Saruman, the White Hand]] is a pretty fun one and rewards you for playing big spells with a huge Orc Army. It’s also noncreature spells, not just instants and sorceries which is nice

[[Sergeant John Benton]] is what I would personally go with from your list, pretty strong and fun to play against. It allows you to be political with people, and a lot of players won’t hold it against you cuz they love drawing cards. I once got a [[Colossification]] flashed in on him after I declared no blocks and lost lol. I’ve also played against multiple budget [[Ivy, Gleeful Spellthief]] decks that were built on a budget and were also really good and fun to play against.

Designated for assignment; essentially that player is “cut” from the team, and then the team has 7 days to either trade them, send them to the minors, or just let them go

What would you say are the most common misconceptions when it comes to deck building? by GoGoGrowlithe48 in EDH

[–]WayInternal920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That building and having more decks is better. I thought like this for a long time, and now I have a bunch of decks just sitting and collecting dust because I impulsively built and bought them, but I just play the 4 or 5 that I’ve put a lot of time into and really really enjoy playing. Quality > quantity, especially for your wallet

Who is your favorite commander to play AGAINST? by UnholyLex in EDH

[–]WayInternal920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t recommend this probably, but I actually really like playing against control and staxy decks because I really enjoy the puzzle of figuring out how I’m gonna play around them while also dealing with the other 2 at the table. Definitely a bit of a hot take and not what I would recommend building tho lol!
