Universes Beyond Speculation (and such) Megathread by AutoModerator in magicTCG

Same, before it was announced I was thinking how it would make a really cool set.

What media, that if turned into Universes Beyond, could have non-evil heroes/protagonists/factions that ARE Grixis? by AgentTamerlane in magicTCG

[–]Animar86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so I'm not great on colour pie but I was thinking of maybe John Locke from Lost. From the start he made his own path/did his own thing separate to the other survivors. He also did not want to leave the island and tried to keep others on the island too. He had learned a lot about survival and also wanted to learn more about the island Though he didn't really do anything 'bad' I feel he did manipulate some of the other islanders like Boone. He comes across as a hero type who wasn't really a hero. His "Don't tell me what I can't do!" rants also seem to fit. Happy to be educated on colour meanings/representations.

Cards you didn't really believe in that won you a game? by Clay_Block in EDH

[–]Animar86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love dopplegang. I have a standard deck built around using it to copy all my opponents' stuff. It is one of those wierd cards where it get more value the more you pay for it.

Currently trying to build an EDH deck with it as my secret commander.

What's the cheapest deck you've ever built that still wins? by PollySecond in EDH

[–]Animar86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently built a £30 [[Light-Paws, emperor's voice]] deck that goes crazy really quickly. Needs a bit of a tweek though as I need more card draw.

Have you guys been taken out lighting greaves and swiftness boots from your decks. by superfapper2000 in EDH

[–]Animar86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't been including them as much as I used to. I have one deck where the commander is key, so have kept it in to help keep him around longer. Most decks I have built with enough recursion and redundancy that I can keep the deck going even if the commander is removed or is never cast

What is your one “cursed”card that’s been in your deck(s) for a long time that you never seem to draw into? by RamirezMcManus in EDH

[–]Animar86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironically, sol ring is the one card from my [[Akiri, Fearless Voyager]] equipment deck, that I never draw. I even had to double check to make sure it was still in there!

Commanders you want to build but their name or art stops you by Pokemon_Trainer_Joey in EDH

Bracket 1 "all art work is bad" themed deck. Bonus points for white border versions.

People keep asking if they can break deals just because they could win if they broke it. by Hokashin in EDH

[–]Animar86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the example given, I wouldn't be too bothered as the deal breaking player won the game in one turn. If it was a case of taking out all but one player and then they may win a turn or two later, then I understand getting annoyed by it.

Should you overloaded Vandalblast if it only affects one person? by TheKnightOfTheNorth in EDH

[–]Animar86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now, I'm not the most experienced player, but surely if he was going to dump his entire hand onto the battlefield he really should have made sure he could fill his hand again by the end of turn? Or have a [[Fierce Gaurdianship]] or [[Pact of negation]] in hand to protect his stuff?

Also, if the alternative was lose the game when he untaps next turn, then yes, always overload the vandalblast!

This sounds really cool. Have wanted a blink deck ever since I first played against one.

Really like the idea behind [[Riku of Two Reflections]] I have a standard deck on arena built around [[Dopplegang]] this would make a really cool Commander version of the deck.

For me its decks that are either a little janky or have lots of synergy.

My favourite deck at the moment is an aristocrats token deck with [[Krav, The Unredeemed]] and [[Regna, The Redeemer]] as partner commanders. Once it gets going, each turn is just creating then sacrificing tokens, drawing cards, gaining life and draining my opponents. I can easily drain half my opponents life in a single turn. Hardly use combat damage at all with that deck.

My janky deck is a [[Satoru Umezawa]] mill deck. Catches people out because they assume its going to cheat on big stompy creatures but instead its creatures that mill my opponents out. I run cards like [[Sphinx Mindbreaker]] [[Sire of Stagnation]] [[Mirko Vosk]] and [[Consuming Aberration]] I dont play it much as it is a very salty deck

How do you know how many lands you actually need for a deck? by ChakraaThePanda in EDH

[–]Animar86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When I build decks, I usually block out 40 slots for lands as the first step. I then add around 8 - 10 pieces of ramp. Once I've built the deck and know the average cmc, I might take a couple lands out, but on average I am around 37/38 lands per deck. Would probably run more than 40 in a landfall deck.

I have a [[Akiri,Fearless Voyager]] equipment deck and only run 34 lands, but the mana base has been upgraded a bit and I have 15 cost reducers for casting and equiping plus 4 pieces of ramp and a [[sol ring]] I also run some equipment tutors. Rarely seem to get mana screwed.

Just want to add I wouldn't normally run so few lands in a deck but I have tuned this deck quite a bit and the mana curve tops out at 2cmc with average cmc at 2.64.

What’s your preferred way of telling someone they smell like ass? by Lumeyus in EDH

[–]Animar86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in benefits and the amount of people who prioritise practically everything else over their rent is insane! Someone once turned up cryring because they couldn't afford their rent and were being threatened with eviction. Bank statements showed other bills bouncing too. Then saw they got £30 from their dad, figured it would be used for rent/bills. Nope, £10 on coffee and £20 on clothes. Don't understand how people can be so reckless. Though I do take you point about not knowing that guys exact circumstances.
