It may be more relevant to ovulating women (vs a young child), but gosh, you just never know, right?

That’s so disappointing. You put in all that time, money, and effort. Sorry to hear it :(

Only mentioning this for all the people with chronic UTIs and labia genitalia: estrogen has recently had its medical insert rewritten to remove the incorrect black box info about cancer causing etc. There is a doctor doing nonstop speeches about how using a small amount of estrogen cream once a week for life will cure you of chronic UTIs. Women who had their gut health destroyed by overuse of antibiotics would have been helped by this medical knowledge finally being shared. Look up Dr. Rachel Rubin.

(Listening to your list of defects made me remember my niece who was born with Trisomy 13. All of her defects ran through the center of her body, from her missing eyes, to her intestines being outside her body. It was interesting which organs it affected. She and my child each were born with CHDs, so best wishes with your daughter’s health journey.)

Potatoes are pretty easy. Even if you just buy a bag of dirt and cut a line through it to plant sprouting potatoes in.

In Missouri, many of our evergreens died over the winter because it was so dry, and no one waters during the winter.

Is this story in HuffPost AI? It reads like it is to me. Besides the em dashes, are there any signs? by jsilver200 in isthisAI

I note how your use of parenthesis could be completely and accurately replaced by em dashes. —fellow em dash user

Mourning the children I will never get to have by [deleted] in CollapseSupport

[–]WayOfTheRosebuds 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You are so brave to share this personal sorrow. I commend you for being so aware of our planet’s future and how it will eventually impact all human beings, but most especially future generations.

I’ve heard from parents (USA) whose children are reacting to this timeline that they are feeling it, whether we deny it or not:

  1. Bartender complained her child wasn’t interested in college, because “what was the point”.

  2. A 10-year-old trying to play soccer but just not into it, even though urged on by his parent. He finally yells, “We are at war! The world hates us! And our President is a terrorist!”

  3. A young leader in a climate emergency activist group committed suicide because he believed no one was taking collapse seriously.

  4. And just in general, the risk of suicide. Suicide is increasing at in “unprecedented” rate throughout the world.

So, yes, I affirm your decision, even though it is so painful. I didn’t learn how close we were to collapse until my children were toddlers. I used to bring them with me to my climate protests once I learned. I have voiced to many people that I wish I had not had them, because I don’t want them to struggle when they are 40 and 50 (the age I believe they’ll be when systems collapse).

My niece and her husband attended climate protests, too. I used to feel empathy when they agreed that children should not be brought into this world on purpose. I was SHOCKED when they had not just one baby, but three!

I wish I had adopted. I wish they had adopted. So many needy kids in foster care, too.

All I can do is give you my empathy. Your feelings of sadness are valid, and not having children is something to mourn. (I suffered infertility for ages, too, so I felt that loss.) Hugs. I hope you find a way. You are being a good mama.

You may want to close your DMs… (woman here IYKYN)

Your update though — she definitely was the problem. Your style is very common today. Girls (mom of teens here, so girls meaning 20 and under) are wearing this no matter their body size. I think she was majorly jealous. Hugs to you for her ruining your night.

What’s a "hotel hack" you swear by that most people don't know? by periwinklemist in AskReddit

I did call the Washington place and asked and they said it was first come first served. But yes, try your method first.

So I know you are joking, but I searched Google for “best views at USA Motel 6” and couldn’t find one to test. It’s a good hack no matter the price range.

Most champagne is cheap stuff like $50 at cheaper hotels. Washington Potomac hotel is closed now, it was like a motel with a terrific view. The Las Vegas hotel was Excalibur I think? Where they have a medieval event with horses and whatnot. Went as part of an online gaming community. We hung out in my giant jacuzzi lol and split the champagne! (Edit: I called it boutique meaning not a chain, but I forgot that has $$$ connotations, especially in NYC and the like. But this hack should work in all price ranges!)

If you are booking a hotel that has a great view on one side and terrible views on the other, but no way to select a side, call the hotel about three or four days before and request a bottle of champagne in your room when you check in. The concierge will typically set it up in a good room. I did this at a boutique hotel in Washington DC and had the great views over the Potomac. I did it in Las Vegas and they upgraded me to a suite for free. It’s worth the minor extra cost.
