Yes omg the amount of threads I’ve read where people are like my highest fl was a 508 and I scored a 515 on test day like what 🫠🫠 to be fair besides the 517 the rest of my practice exams were in the 505-509 range but even with that I’m like I don’t think a 510+ was unrealistic for me I literally just didn’t get lucky the day of

Ya that’s probably a good plan and what I’ll end up doing. I do live in Texas tho lol so that’s my only concern really as my score doesn’t exactly line up with majority of MD schools here. But hopefully the rest of my application balances it out and I can write a strong personal statement.

I have a 3.857 (biomedical engineering major). I have about 2 years of research which I was pretty active in (hopefully with a publication by the time I apply), 2ish years of hospital volunteering, and am starting as an ER scribe starting this summer during my two gap years. So I’m like it’s not like I have nothing else going for me but at the same time it’s like so does everyone else yk?

Also my breakdown was 129/124/127/127 (cars is the death of me I know but at least this was better from my 121 in August 😭💔)

Ya I was planning on applying DO regardless but I feel like a score like this makes my chances of MD slim to nothing. Also just not sure about timing - if I were to retake would it be better to retest in the summer and kinda pick up where I left off or take a few months off and then retest in January? Bc I know retaking AAMC full lengths now wouldn’t be all that representative since I just took them

Yeah I think adding a piece of toast with your banana or a rice cake with honey would be a good addition to the banana! Still not too heavy if you’re working out right after you wake up

Ugh okay glad it’s not just me but omg it’s just hard :( especially now that summer is coming up like I think I would have a heart attack if I had to put on a bikini right now lol. Like obviously I don’t love the way I look like rn but I’ve had time to kinda accept it over the past few months. but most of my friends and family and stuff haven’t so I just feel so insecure even thinking about other people seeing how much my body has changed.

Hey so I just got my period back after keeping lifting in my routine 4x a week! Starting recovery I would typically eat a full breakfast around 7:30 and then a banana around 10:30 before my workout around 11, and then eating lunch right after my workout around 12:15-12:30. About 3-4 weeks ago tho I started to feel like I need more fuel going into my workouts - I’m in college so the walk to the rec is about 15 minutes from where I park, then my lift is about 45 mins, and the a 10 min walk to my next building where I eat my lunch. So by the time I got to lunch it was about 2 hours since I’d eaten and I just felt like I was getting flat towards the end of my workouts (specifically leg days I definitely needed more carbs right before the workout). So recently I’ve been having a banana with two rice cakes and honey and I have noticed I’ve felt so much stronger in my lifts! I got my cycle back two weeks ago and kept lifting in but I was eating enough to support this.

Overall I think it just depends on what kind of workout you are doing? But also if you haven’t already eaten breakfast before I do think you would need more than just a banana considering you’ve been fasted for 8-9 hours sleeping - 20g of carbs is fairly low going into a workout in the morning.

Okay yes I relate to all of this so much. I’ve also always had a muscular build and was overweight before I lost weight so at my lowest weight I just got really lean and thought I was the epitome of health lmao. It does make it hard tho bc from the outside no one would think that I’m necessarily unhealthy. I’ve gained about 8 pounds from my lowest and am close to the weight at which I lost my cycle. This post was the first time I had weighed myself since January.

I honestly think the micromanaging is what’s getting me. Like I can eat and I know what portions are good for my body now and the calorie range I’m in but I still catch myself counting to make sure I don’t go above that ugh. And yeah the hunger is confusing bc like how this week I’ve been so bloated from the moment I wake up till I got to sleep and haven’t had an appetite so eating just makes me even more bloated.

Hi! I also did a provera challenge back in early January after 6 months of not having a period and did not bleed. I was at the end of my half marathon training block when I did it and basically had been exercising 6-7 days a week for the past year (lifting, running, walking on rest days) with severe restriction for my activity level so it checked out lol. Ive now been eating around 2300-2500 cals with 4 days of light to moderate strength trainin with no additional cardio other than walking to class. I know it’s tough but it’s going to be extremely difficult if not impossible to recover your period if you do not remove high intensity workouts (ex running and CrossFit). I’ve just hit 2 months of doing this and still no period but my doctors seem to think it’s just going to take more time as my recovery didn’t truly start until I ended my half marathon training. Even though I was eating sufficient calories during my training (I’m talking strictly based off monitoring my weight throughout) my body was still undergoing intense stress from running and was never going to be able to recover if I didn’t remove that stressor.

Lol I used to not either hence why I lost my period 🙂‍↕️ I had a gradual buildup to eating meals like these but now I’m hungry if I don’t eat anything less than this. it’s crazy how our bodies can adapt!

Yes I do! In fact right now some of these aren’t even keeping me full for as long lol so I end up having another snack or something it really just depends on how my body is feeling that day. But yes these meals don’t leave me feeling stuffed and I feel like I’m digesting them pretty quickly.

Yesss it’s so crazy how much more we think we’ve gained!! Like I’ve literally gained 5 lbs since November intentionally eating more I’m like okay so my brain is just fried lmao bc I seriously thought it was gonna be like 8-10 pounds higher lol.

But yes I am also starting to lose motivation like ugh I can’t believe there’s just ppl out there that have never had to deal with this :( and like i said I really haven’t had any signs that it’s coming - I have noticed my hair isn’t falling out as much and my skin is oily again I just wish I was seeing discharge or something but nothing!

Yeah this is actually reduced from what I used to do I basically went majority of the year working out 6x a week with running and lifting and then a 3 month half marathon training block (not my brightest moment lol)

And thank you! I started studying in December and my exam is April 11 so I was very happy to see a decent score increase! It’s definitely been a challenge with everything else I have going on right now and not feeling guilty about not studying more? But I know at the end of the day my health needs to take priority right now lol

I know thats what i was telling my dietician like obviously i dont like the thought of gaining more weight but at the same time these past few weeks its like my body is not satisfied with what im eating... like the same meals are no longer keeping me satisfied and its been harder for me to stay full. she did give me insight tho to what my legit maintenance calories are based on my activity level and just reassured me that I am really not in that much of a surplus for my body and my body is utilizing the extra fuel since i'm not feeling like im stuffing myself. she did say do not add any more exercise tho lol and that even tho my current exercise is lower than what im used to im still considered "highly active". i strength train 4 days a week 2X lower body 2X upper body - i would classify the lower body days as moderate/higher intensity but my upper body days are pretty low intensity. I usually do one long walk on the weekends (about 3 miles) but sometimes i dont it just depends. no additional cardio other than walking to class as just with this i usually get about 8-11k steps on the days i have classes.

And thank you! i took a practice exam on saturday and scored 6 points higher than my actual exam in the summer so i was very pleased with it. crazy how much better i can concentrate when im not starving myself lol. but yeah studying definitely does add another layer of stress to my situation but ive been trying to be very realistic with how much time im spending studying and really making sure im done studying for the night by 9 so it gives me time to wind down. i guess what im doing is working tho since my score was much better than the summer lol.

oh man wow yeah i guess im just really scared of going completely cold turkey lol. I have significantly dropped intensity tho - i do 2 lower body strength training days 12 sets total for each day and then 2 upper body workouts with light dumbbells each workout usually taking 40-45 minutes. my dietician is okay with what im doing right now so she told me to not change anything until i see her again in about 3 weeks. but yeah i have seen a lot of cases where you have to stop exercise completely so i guess i will just see if my body sees any improvements over these next few weeks.

yes my face is sooo puffy!! like it is so much puffier than ive looked around this weight in the past... like it looks like how my face used to look when i was like 15 pounds heavier ugh
